Got guns?

so here's a question for you guys :

what gun would you buy off the shelf for a decent price ( sub $1000 for sure) that could ring a steel plate at 500m? optics are already taken care of.
Savage has a line I p of model 10 and 110 that will do that with ease. I have a rifle that is a 110 heavy barrel, short throw 308 with a Leopold vx12 that i can crack silhouettes more often than not at 1000y with. Great guns, nothing in their price range compares.

I’d like to f around with a 6.5 Creedmoor, supposed to be accurate and efficient.

Never said it, or even implied it.

"Only two gun laws made it through Congress during Obama's two terms in office, and neither placed additional restrictions on gun owners."
He's rite.... gun control as we know it today was started by Reagan when he was gunner of cali to combat the armed black panther movement. Trump has passed more gun control than Obama did.... im not a fan of Obama but its a fact.

.25-06 is cheaper to shoot, produces slightly less energy due to lighter bullet weights, but is flatter-shooting
Cool caliber, but choice of weapon is specie/environment specific.
I prefer my 30-06 Ackley improved as I'm pushing a 180 gr Nosler partition at very close to 300 H&H ballistics out of a short action.
With big bears always around you want to pack a few extra ftlbs of energy if needed.
Our Sitka's don't require much, but you never know who's around the next alder.

Then again, when boat hunting beach deer my .270 Win is my go-to.

The only rifles I have now are a Remington 270, and a 243.

The one I miss the most is the 22-250, but our 243 will work for a deer and varmit rifle.

You know one evening I grabbed the bullet wallet for the 243 instead of my 270 one.

I loaded the mag on the way in, you know with a eye out for deer.

When I tried to chamber on it was a little tight..

I checked it out cause it felt strange. I still had a set even stayed till dark.

Sometimes it's nice to watch, lot better than a long drag out.
