coming from somebody that eats sushi all the fuckin time, I am trying to establish how much ginger, wasabi and Sapporo one can safely ingest.

checked the plants this afternoon, i plucked 1 of the more damaged leaves off and checked it with my mini scope, i couldn't see any mites at all, there were plenty of eggs tho, 1 thing i did notice some of the eggs were milky coloured others were darker, are the darker eggs older ?
gonna wack um with neem oil tomorrow
i usually use 7ml of neem oil and some dish soap as an emulsifier to 1 ltr of water, does that sound about right ?

so i was going to spray them with neem oil but when i looked at the bottle it was 18 months past its best before date so i hit them with pyrethrum again (thursday)
got some fresh neem oil saturday, sunday evening i checked the plants, no new damage and no live mites found, i did see a few eggs, i mixed some neem up and gave them a good soaking, at the same time i mixed a batch up with slightly less neem in it and gave the coco a drench to hopefully kill the little fuckers skulking in the top of the coco, as the plants started to get a bit bushy i took most of the bottom 2/3rd of the leaves off, hopefully taking some eggs with it, the girls are looking a little perkier now their not being sucked dry
gonna hit um again thursday or friday

hit the plants again last night with some fresh neem oil, i checked a few leaves with my scope no sign of eggs or mites, or any new damage, i'll treat them again on monday with pyrethrum EC5 which i use at 5ml a ltr of water ph ed at 6, for some reason it only works unless the ph is below 7
the neem i use at 7ml a ltr for the foliage, and 5ml a ltr for the drench, with some dish soap as an emulsifier
i'll hit them with neem oil again next friday

So I'm in a similar situation with a moderate spider-mite infestion. After heavy research and consideration, i will be spraying a solution of 1 part alcohol(91%) - 5 parts water. I with drench entire plants every 3 days for 2 weeks and i will update this thread with my result the morning after each spray. Wish me luck! :hump:

Sounds scary. Test on a few leaves then wait 6 hours to see what happens, I say.

Another variation is per gallon of water about 60 ml of hydrogen peroxide 3%, 40 ml of 70 to 91% alcohol and some dish soap - a few drops.

Also you can try Dr. Bronner's Peppermint soap - 1 tablspoon per quart of water or 4 per gallon and a pinch of Caynne pepper you can get at the Dollar Store. Bronner's is in most drug stores or grocery stores. Bronners has a bunch of oils in it.

I use an ounce of isopropyl alcohol in a gallon of water. KEEP ISOPROPYL OUT OF THE ROOT ZONE. Spray the plants down and then spray them down with clean water to rinse. Give it a good shake before standing the plant back upright.

50%? 70%? Or 90/91% ISO? DO you let it sit for a little while or rinse right away? I guess you could put a towel near the root zone.

Update: Alright, so i sprayed last night with the alcohol:water solution and inspected plants this morning. Everything looks good and no plant damage (nothing that i can notice). I have 2 fans running and everything seems like it has quickly evaporated. Evaporation must be the key with this method due to alcohols very quick evaporation rate. Anyhow, still am seeing mite activity so i will spray again in 3 days and try to saturate more thoroughly this time.

after i sprayed with pyrethrum the first time i didn't see any live mites just eggs, i soaked the foliage good and proper, then followed up with the neem every few days to kill the hatching mites, worked a treat, and very cheap compared to other products, hit um hard the first time i think is the key to killing the little bastards

A poster in another thread who seems experienced also like ISO. He does 10% ISO and 90% RO water. He said to protect your roots with plastic and maybe also a towel. He says he sprays every 2 days for 14 days to break the life cycle.

Yeah - this is what he said too. He said stay downwind or have a fan or respirator. 70/90/91% ISO is strong stuff. The evaporation is good for mites and plants.

I cannot never understand people who drink strong alcohol but Diet Coke is probably just as bad and especially anything from Pepsi.

Sorry guys. Late update: i did my third spray of alcohol solution last night. All looked good this morning and will check after work under better lighting condition. Going for 2 more sprays
