okay sure. later we will pick up on Loretta Lynch and the clock boy investigation..
I don't see a huge deal/anything too inflammatory here. It looks like Congressmen asked the AG for a civil rights investigation into what happened, and in some ways there could technically be justification for one. Once more: If a white kid in Texas did the same thing I highly doubt he'd be arrested. The arrest is what they're probably going to be looking into because I don't think Ahmed was ever formally charged with anything, so he should not have been detained.

"Ahmed was never charged, but several congressmen asked Lynch for the civil rights investigation she promised Thursday."

This is just the way things work. The police screw up something procedurally they get investigated. It's the same reason why you have DoJ oversight into a lot of police departments that have screwed a lot of things up. For example the DoJ is going to open a investigation into the Chicago PD over the death of Laquan McDonald; the DoJ opened a probe one month after the shooting of Michael Brown into the Ferguson Police Department; and in 2012 the DoJ opened an investigation over the use of force of Albuquerque Police Officers. I'm not putting an opinion out here beyond the first sentence, just stating my observations.

Ahmed broke one of the regulations of the school district and could have potentially caused a large panic, they were right to call the cops.

He was arrested, questioned and when he stopped being a dickhead and actually answered them he was cut loose...

You're not from the US so I really don't expect you to know how it works, yet here you are commenting about our police procedures. Do I ever tell you how the Garda should act and such? I don't think so even though I've spent a few months in Ireland.

If you "break one of the regulations of the school district," that is grounds for disciplinary action from the school. So, here he could have been suspended/expelled/held at school and no controversy would have erupted. Moreover, if you are arrested i.e. detained and taken to the police station usually what's next is follow up charges. You are not suppose to be held against your will. It's up to the DA at that point whether to pursue those charges, or to drop them. The Federal probe will deal with whether or not he was arrested because of his race, religion, and national origin. They quickly ascertained what he had was not a bomb, nor was it suppose to be a bomb hoax, yet he was still arrested. The family is bringing up charges of wrongful arrest.

Edited to add: Also, he's a minor so he technically cannot be questioned without his parents being there, but the police kept his parents away. He requested his parents to be present during the questioning, but the police denied that request.

Since Im obviously so oblivious, what's the relevant State and Federal law regarding terrorist hoaxes?

Intent's a bitch to prove, even more so if you want to pop a kid with a terrorism hoax charge. Good luck with that one. Did you know that the dead sea is the saltiest place on Earth? Next to how your statement came across. ;)

Given events in the last couple of years, is it profiling or common sense to question a Muslim boy about the ticking briefcase he's carrying?

Why open a clock and put it in a briefcase at all?

Its more complicated to install the wires from a PSU to the motherboard of a computer, doesn't make you a genius in any way.

What's wrong with profiling?

If your daughter's date drove up on a Harley sporting a Mohawk, neck tattoos, tattered jeans smelling of rum..... you telling me you wouldn't profile and stop her date night? If you answer "no", you're an irresponsible dad.

So you can't understand the difference between a government profiling American citizens and a father profiling his daughters date?

That's hilarious

Also, you should be profiled for being a right wing maniac - seeing as right wing maniacs are the leading cause of domestic terrorism in the United States

Better take away his guns too, he might shoot up a planned parenthood given his extreme pro-life and anti-left views.
