Gradual day/night transition?

Has anyone studied the benefits of slowly turning the lights on and off? I know I'd be pissed if someone woke me up from a dead sleep by shining a spotlight in my face. Curious if our girls feel the same. It seems like a transition that mimics the rising and setting of the sun would be more appropriate.

As indoor growers we do a lot of things that would never happen in nature and the plants we grow still grow nicely if we simply provide them with their basic needs, so to me a plant getting shocked by abrupt wake up times and abrupt sleep times isn't something I feel is even worth worrying about.

For all the big commercial grows it's lights on lights off.

Plants that never throw balls would not have any problems switching quickly.

Some plants are sensitive to stress and throw balls.
I don't know if there is information on there being affects on plants that are more prone to hermie in early flower.

I like doing it gradually with my 2 600w hps.

Makes me a happier grower I suppose and for me it's about enjoying my room.

A similar topic is should you go from 18/6 to 12/12 quickly or gradually.

I take it a step further.

I have the 1st light come on 15 minutes before the 2nd light.
At lights off the same thing.

Lights come on and off from the east sunrise to the west sunset.

Call it crazy. I say no harm no foul or Good Karma.

Happy Growing! :weed:

Awesome! That's the kind of shit I love. Some call it overkill, but I say if it's cool as hell and doesn't hurt, go for it!

You use newbie in your name so assuming you’re just starting out. My advice is always keep it simple and get bud. Especially to newer growers. Just flip.

Then important to feed a veg feeding the first couple of times and include cal mag after you flip. They’ll need that for the stretch. After that many use a transition feed of equal veg, micros and bloom. Then switch to bloom nutes.

Never follow manufacturers recommended feed strengths when you are newer or when switching nutrient brands. Always start at half strength or even less. The plant will continue to grow and develop buds I promise.

Don’t overuse cal mag. Or any other nutrient but people tend to overdo it with cal mag. This can cause nutrient lockout. Excess of any mineral can but again the myth of addressing all issues with cal mag.
