Thanks for posting the diy!

I appreciate the sub's, i hope to have a good grow to show you all. I really like the short rider from nirvana and hope it continues to be as cool as it was in the past.

I really love these Uhaul boxes and I am looking forward to seeing diverse designs plans. :) And I have to admit I have been a little curious about this and another nirvana strain.

thanks for that link d.tea. it looks a tad complicated, but more doable than i thought! and i'm sure i have several 9v or 12v adapters lying around.

gotta say though, the " Silenx IXAFCEX Four Channel External Fan Controller" is more tempting, lol.

I love Smart Pots. I swear by them. Plants love them. size? somewhere around a 3 -7 gal depending on the size you want the plants, room size and amount of watering you want to do. Fox Farm may be a tad strong for seedlings. But works fine/great for plants. Don't over water early on, it's an easy thing to do when your not use to soil/soilless grows. Don't use MG mosture controll. You want the roots to breath well. Mosture meaters are a waist. just feel the weight of the container or feel the soil. You'll get a feel for it. looking good.

That's not a bad way to go. It saves a bit of room early on and helps on the over watering problem many have. It's up to you. As I said FF is a bit strong for seedings but they will make it. I like to wait a bit before ramping up on nutes.

yeah i hear ya, the FF will have lots of nutrients already in it, so the vegging plants shouldnt need any food for at least a month. I will carefully watch for any signs of hunger naturally.

I am stoked to get started with this grow, its been a year since i was able to grow for myself.

Smart pots are AMAZING the increased air circulation to the root system increases production like no mans business. And air pruning is a cool concept. Smart pots and coco in ebb and flow tables are like none other but I am using one with a top feed method right now with amazing results.

I noticed they arent really over priced for the 2 gallon smart pots. I may have to give them a shot. Ill need a good drip tray tho to protect my box. Maybe i can find a large square one that will fit two of those pots.
Once i get my car back from the shop i will go by home depot and see what they have to offer for that.

You'll need the same drip catch either way no differance there. You will need to water a bit more often when using them but that's a good thing, more air to the roots. They are great (smart pots), I'll never go plastic again. I have large ones that I use outside too. (200 gallons). Do a side by test. The plant in the smart pot will be much happier longer. And then look at the root ball differance when done and you'll quickly understand why. If you can fit it try 3 gallon ones I have never tryed a 2 gallon one all the way to harvest. Check the the sizes too. They are a bit wider and shorter than most plastic. Another good thing IMO.

My local hydro store which is VERY medical friendly did that exact test. The clones were taken from the same mother put in the same substrate fed the same and lit the same and the smart pot plant in a 5 gallon pot produced 38 dry grams more. (Note! They were using the FULL fox farm line, even the pricey ones like sledgehammer flush and dr roots or whatever it is)

Just started my first CFL grow I'm gonna talk to my buddy at the shop and get me some of these for sure. Very glad I found this!! ahh hell, you got me sold on them. ill buy a couple of the 2 gallon pots.. Something tells me to buy three instead hehe Ill buy mine on amazon.

Ok i ordered three smart pots and a few plastic drip pans. Ill fill that with foxfarm soil. I am debating if to put the seedlings in there directly or in party cups first.

will the seedling survive in the soil if i plant the germinated seed?

Yea it can survive but be careful. Fox Farm has a lot of nutes in it and can burn a seedling.

Im just wondering if i should start in regular soil and grow it in a party cup, then transplant a full seedling into the fox farm soil.

Yea I personally would put it in the reg. soil in the party cup and then transplant to the fox farm later on. For sure will be the safest route to go.

Ive grown hydroponically for two years, and know that MJ doesnt need much food to start with. So i really like the idea of the party cups.

I will get two seedlings going in party cups then when they are ready for the food ill switch to the fox farm since its ubber food..

Ill get some party cups at krogers when i go for my weekly grocery shopping.
