Yes! Exactly. Do you have a build guide? How large of a res does it give you? Comparatively speaking, do you prefer this build and why? Any drawbacks?

I'm sold... after reading through this thread, and looking deeper into SIPs, I'm actively working towards switching my tent over.

I've got my totes ready for the build, got some dry amendments ordered, got the em1 and a myco innoculant blend on the way... I'll post pics once I get into the build and all that.

Do you have worms in your soil @Greenthumbs256? Not sure how they'd fair in a system like this.. I'd assume they'd be fine as this is supposed to be mimicking nature, but wasnt sure what your experience (if any) on that would be.

Very similar to my setup except I'm using Earthbox planters as opposed to homemade and I mulch with vermicompost and cocoa bean hulls covered with a layer of the blue oyster mushroom oat straw from Buildasoil. One tubular bale of that is enought for probably 15 full size Earthbox containers. More if you're doing the Root and Veg ones. I don't pump air into the reservoir either, but still same basic concepts applied. Love the simplicity of it and the quality of the final product.

So guys, I'm considering starting a new thread, with all the newest and updated info, but in the very first line, I was going to ask everyone to not post on it, so as I change things or we learn something new, I can write it on that thread.

This way everyone here and anyone new showing up to read it and try it, can have all the info listed along with the changes without all of... well everything else lol.

No offense to anyone, but it gets really old answering some of the same basic questions over and over. Which isnt anyone's fault, bc some of the answers are currently being buried with all our discussions and my updates and shit. But my thought is with this way I wont have too repeat myself, atleast not to anyone who even attempted to read it. Anyone can read that thread learn all the info and discuss here until your blue in face on this thread. I'll add in links on both threads.

Opinions?

I wonder if I could get a mod to lock a new thread that only I could post on for ever, that would make this much less of a headache. I'm thinking theres enough of you guys that want to learn this maybe they will if they can.

There is only one forum where you can do what you are considering, it's called Grow Journals. There you can request no replies in your thread, and anyone who does reply gets ridiculed and laughed at mercilessly.

It's the environment, worms cant live when it stays soaking wet 24/7 they can live for some time yes, but they hate it, and do everything they can to escape. But they will not breed in that type of environment, ain't no user error here...

Of course you can repeatedly add worms, but wheres the benefit (not to mention cost) by added worms that will try to escape immediately, and the ones that dont, wont bury into your soil. The undersides of the cover I use on my sips, are dripping wet on the regular each time I open them. A environment this wet normally in most cases cant even support a plant living! Which is try, any other method I've ever seen if you kept your soil this wet, the plant would drown and die in just a matter of time.
