Grow-A-Long with Dick

I thought to share a couple myself.

The Two boys are chopped. Too bad so sad but they did their job and now the two girls are looking great. From a making seeds point of view.
I need to say these poor plants have had to survive.
They have been over grown, neglected and have been bent, moved and twisted around too much however there are a lot of buds on these two girls so there will be seeds.
After all that is exactly what these plants want to do and their wish has been granted.

I'm trying out the Phone's camera for the first time. I've used a 5MP Sony Cyber Shot previously. The Phone Camera is a Galaxy 22 I think. Damn thing has a lot of functions.
So here are two shots that are somewhat okay. Naturally I am not showing the Ugly job I have done of growing these out. All I can say is it will get better next time.

Of the two plants, the one that ripen nicely, is clearly better. Tastes similar to nail polish in a great way.
The other one is clearly smokeable but nothing special i must say.

Teach a man to grow his own and your stash will last longer. :)

I'm wanting to share the liquid feed I plan and look for the wisdom of the Crowd here.
My Hope is that this will not go sideways.

So I like Guinea Pigs and now that I am in a house with plenty of room I have Guinea Pigs once again.
In the past I have found soiled Guinea Pig bedding to be excellent for soil and composting.
Today I am going to make a Manure Tea from their wonderfully soiled bedding.
I can't vouch for the bail of Hay I bought as to it's being 100% organic but it's Hay so the pests to Hay would be hungry animals and fire. So I am having to squint my organic eyes a bit here and have a little faith.

I tend to leave them on their bedding longer than my nose says I should but it does make the most wonderful urine soaked poop cakes. That says nitrogen and bacteria for the Manure Tea.

As it would be today was shopping day. Brought in things they like such as their favorite Carrots, Kale, Greens, Celery, Squash and broccoli. These guys get fed well. After all the product of their labor and the biggest benefit from being a good PET DADDY is the biologically active soil amendment. They also eat hay and green grass so they are always eating something it seems. They are great little poopers for sure.

Okay enough chatter box here.

I have a still in decent shape pot with lid. I picked up a twin hose air pump that came with two check valves ( very important as the liquid will go up into the tubes with out them ).
Starting with some lukewarm water I made loose the hay-bedding and submerged it in the water. On top of that I put a handful of Shrimp meal, Kelp meal and the all purpose 4-4-4 dry organic fertilizer.
I'll leave the dry handfuls on top and not mix it in just yet.
To this end it is now bubbling. With the LP Co2 generator out there it will stay above 50 for the most part if not warmer then that.
I would think for brewing microbes to water with it should stay active and not get too cold. Yet it definitely stays out on the porch. :)

As you see with the attachments I also am dissolving some oyster shell for chickens in vinegar and have some molasses on standby when the brew is near ready and strained.
That is it. The two girls in there are putting on bud still so one feeding in a few days may give them a boost.
I probably will top dress with hand/home made compost I made in my tumbler.

Also look into the burbling caldron of plain water. Is that a Ghost of a man's face?

Well here goes the Part Two. You knew there was going to be a part Two right?

So the brew was in high C02 during lights on. It was in the "Lung Room" and the burner was running but it has had O2 rich ( low CO2 ) for 12 hours and that manure smell is low now.
Anaerobic and Aerobic. The Manure smell is the work of Anaerobic bacteria (without oxygen) and the good smell is Aerobic (with oxygen) bacteria. It smells okay now.
So, I used my sifter as a strainer and strained out the hay. The liquid left is the "Manure Tea" with the dregs of the powders and Guinea Pig manure. See picture.
This I transferred back to the pot and added molasses. Here is a quote I saw when googling

I added Molasses and stirred with a stick.
And now back on boil until the burner is active. Apply fresh I say. Apply when the Aerobic bacteria is high not the Anaerobic bacteria so I'll apply today. Apply before the lung room is Co2 high.
Everything extra will go in the collection of soiled bedding that will be my spring compost starter.

So that is it. I believe Guinea Pig manure makes a good M-T booster but we shall see if it is as wonderful as I would hype it to be or perhaps it kills everything.

Okay the "Fix is in"
Fed the M-T and top dressed with my own compost made from scratch.
I try to be natural in my organic regime.

I'll check back in in a few days.

Update:

They are drinking a lot of water.

It's official now. I have one female plant that is "Skunk-Dominate" Phenotype and the other is most likely an S1 I made from a Girl I grew a decade ago and then grew those feminized seeds out in subsequent years. That Phenotype I call the Cherry-Pheno because at lights out I believe the cannabis stomata close rather quickly and a sweet Cherry scent is wafts in the air. The bud itself doesn't smell like Cherry exactly. The closest smell would be bubblegum but it only hints at that. In the jar it had a fruit smell. Maybe a hint of mango would be correct as well.
I think that is why I picked and Feminized that one girl a decade ago. Time goes by and I have to think about things but yeah I made feminized seeds from the Cherry Phenotype and it would seem one of the rescue seeds was an S1 of that F1
So The Skunk dominate has stems that are more rigid and the Cherry has hollow stems.

Skunk looks like it will make long colas where the Cherry looks to be the classic nugs I grew for several years until it didn't get cold long enough in winter to run my 1k HPS any more, safely.
I used to not only grow in the back of that 20 foot trailer but the HPS light heated the trailer and the air filtration improved the air for all of us. That is called getting the most out of the expense.

I will be doing a feminized cross of that Cherry Phenotype with Blue Dream. My first try was using a Blue Dream Cut. I have feminized seeds for this try. So, I did make that cross once before in a space that was too small to really do anything and I got two seeds from that. One sprout was victim to some sap sucking bug and I was able to kill that bug and rescue the other which I grew out a little. It went in the grow box too young to produce a lot of bud and it was time to switch to 12/12 for the others so it did produce a little for it's really short life and the smoke was very nice.
With the Cherry Phenotype I enjoy designing software and listening to music but with the Cherry Phenotype crossed with Blue Dream I enjoyed watching movies. Think Hootie and The Blowfish "The Dolphins made me cry." Nice emotional ( in a good way ) and the flavor was sweet. Again I didn't grow enough to do much more than smoke a little.

So, I will take and finish this grow in the grow room and repeat the steps I did before with the feminized cross. I will make a feminized cross of he Cherry Phenotype to the Blue Dream feminized and once I have those seeds I will grow out some of those and hit them with the two boys I have in the tent. Then I'll have to see what those regulars are like next winter's grow.
Working two strains is enough for me. It takes years to breed.

That will do it then for this winter cycle. It's much more than I hoped I would get done but that grow room needs a build out and the Summers here are evil so work to do and not paying for AC during the Summer for plants.

One other thing about these plants is that they sure put up quite a defense when I'm in there messing around moving them. It's like I'm allergic. They emit something that irritates the skin, eyes and especially the nose. I have discomfort and I sneeze a lot. Seriously mean plants.

I did …then I smoked it all. Yes it gets down to 55 in the basement these days. Got 3 more still going that are much bigger than this one so took it for the team; we are out…there were some hiccups that interrupted our recent perpetual-ness. Shit happens what can ya do

It's all good. I was assuming that deficiency looking stuff was due to low temps.
