If this is the case the proper way would.be to have rebar and to epoxy rebar into the slab and bend them to make "fingers" for the concrete to hold this is how they do additon add ons in const

but like I said if you dont need it leave it be

psh, insulation , and board that shit up. I wouldnt close a hole like that. could turn that into a ehaust/intake fan port, doggy door, hooker door, so many options lol
I have to. Its a closed room so the co2 leaks out the hole since its on the floor level. Its about the size of a window ac unit (and square) so its a security risk. I want to run a pipe through it. I was thinking about puting a sink in there for emptying dehus and getting rid or waste water and cleaning things in it. Its a pita carrying pails around. I have water in, just not water out.

You should just consider sealing it up cause it will probaly end up better

im not telling you what to do but my opinion

and security is not a good reason cause 5 min with a sawzall and your in or 2 seconds with a window
feel me

adding concrete to the slab unless your gona do rebar is point less as it will not bond with the existing concrete

just the opinion of a commercial union journeyman (not in concrete)

A tube of caulking and a can of foam will seal it in no time plus no heart break if the concrete doesnt pan out

Yeah,i guess i didnt realize that you were filling a hole. I wouldnt touch that with concrete. like coldsmoke said, caulking and expandable foam. But yeah if you fill that whole with concrete i would imagine that the first time you go from summer to winter you may walk out and find your plug in pieces laying on the floor while the racoons eat all your plants lol.

for some reason i thought you were building a entire wall... YEAH SMOKE SOME MORE lol.

Lol mee too then when he said it goes to the floor im like oh yea thats prolly a door that got changed in the blueprints

and your right unless he "pins" it to the floor it will just be a block of concrete on the floor which hed have to seal any way RIGHT LOL ah well good night fellas

best fix is to buy some conc blocks and mortar to fill it up. no need to worry about rebar. it is not a structural problem. put a sleeve in for whatever you may want to run out...drain or whatever
I think if i get a piece of 1/2inch plywood cut a little longer on both sides and wire them together though the hole. I should be able to tourniquet them tight. Then i should be able to pour the concrete in the top and smooth it down to the top of the pony wall. Pretty easy right? Its the tourniquet idea that i couldnt figure out but i think itll work.

yes you can. use a stick on each side to twist the wire and tighten it. pour it in slowly and you will be alright. you will need to pin it down somehow so it doesn't float the plywood off the footing and leak out the bottom

Lmao no. Read above post i made about plug falling out.

Having now seen a pic, ^ this if you want to concrete it in. Id just just do the plywood on both sides. tie it together and caulk it closed. LIttle insulation between the plywood. little rubber paint on the outside to keep water off of it and call it a a day.

You didnt read the above post where we were discussing "Pouring" concrete. Did i not agree with you? Did i not even quote you with saying that this was the proper advice if he wanted concrete to fill that hole? Did you notice i made my falling out comment, then quoted you?
Its obvious your not on forums very often? lol

While admittedly laying brick is not something i do everyday, i have bricked in the occasional backyard grill or fire pit or the like. as for block, once, retaining wall. But to be honest, 5 min on youtube and you can learn to do any of this with enough proficiency for the "home user".

actually i've been here twice as long as you, have 3 times as many posts and i am here nearly every day. mostly reading
but enough about me
@Ninja, if you want to minimize water intrusion and maximize adhesion i would suggest you buy a bottle of latex "milk" and paint the surface with it before you pour. also be sure to pour it very stiff so it doesn't shrink so much. you can use a hammer to tap the forms and remove air pockets.

Best to just board it up as he probably wont do the proper job

and who the fuck mixes block into a slab wall

It will be nigger rigged

I told him how to do it the RIGHT WAY and I told him the EASY WAY which is plywood insulation, some sealant and can of foam

Unless he is going to drill holes

(Which if hes never run a hammer drill he risk break out)
and epoxy rebar in there to hold the plug he pours

it will crack
become a WATER entry point
leak co2 and weed smell

shall I go on

blocks and mortor ? Is he going to custom cut blocks to fit?

does he know how

do you ?
