Got the fixture painted, cabinet needed a little green in it

Thanks!! I'm ready to get it done and growing Under normal operation I've got about 1/4" clearance between the two. When I'm stoned trying to get the fixture in like yesterday, I knock it off the wall with the frame

Just as a convenience thing, if you shop around you could get an electric hoist for around $60, could be handy to have a switch to lower or raise your lights.

We've got light! Finally got a chance with some daylight to wire everything up in the panel. These lights look great, crazy bright!! Also got the exhaust fan working, although I think I need to do something more. I might stack another fan on top of this one. It wont increase cfm , but it will help overcome the resistance of the charcoal filter and increase airflow I believe.
Gonna pop a couple beans tonight, time to get this party started.

Woot woot! Looks great. I would love to build a room someday. Right now just using a 4x4 tent. Great job. Keep the pics coming as you progress

Know that cheap zip ties will get brittle in time, especially fast if any UV light hits them.

Nice!! Tents are a pretty sweet option. Easy to assemble, your ready to grow almost instantly. Got all the ports and holes and zippers built right in for you. And you can take them down pretty quick.
I had just about all the lumber I needed on hand, and I'm a cheap bastard, so I decided to build one. I like building stuff anyways.

Thanks for the heads up Renfro! I bought these zip ties a couple years ago when I built my rat rod. Made sure I got the good ones, its holds all my wire loom for the engine/transmission. I believe I got chemical and uv resistant, I cant remember. I know they'll last about 6 months connected to the throttle lever of an edelbrock carb I'll definitely keep an eye on them, would hate to lose a board and smash a plant.

Found a plastic tub in the masonry isle at Lowes the other day. $15, its 2'x3'x6". Had to trim one side just a hair, fits nice and snug.



Gonna try to get the drain done tonight so I can pour my layer of concrete. Also got some 3/16" thick foam gasket for my door. Need to silicone the seams of the plywood paint the tracks for the casters, and it should be good to grow. Popped 2 Sour Bubbas last night, let the adventure begin.

Got the drain installed and concrete down last night. Gonna put a coat of paint on the concrete. Couldnt find a trial after I mixed the concrete, so it got smoother by hand. Raised the sides a little high to help shed water to the drain in case of a catastrophic water leak down the road. The concrete is mainly to protect the floor. The tub should contain 99% of the water from the plants, but if I spill some on the concrete it wont start rotting my floor. On this first grow I'll be watering by hand more than likely. Doing some plumbing this week, might have enough to run me a supply line up to the cabinet, just have to find the time.
Trying to build a cabin by myself, helping another buddy build 2 big houses, on top of my own business commitments. It's been a whirlwind couple of months. I was pretty slow when Covid-19 started, but since it's been in full swing I've been busier than I have in years. Go figure. Hopefully in a few days I'll have some seeds sprouting and I'll start a grow journal.

Got the smaller cabinet sheeted. Put a single door in the middle of the long side, wide enough for me to get my shoulders through. Put a second fan blowing into the big cabinet, and an air intake on the bottom of the small cabinet. I'm picking up longer screws so I can stack the fans on the exhaust side of the charcoal filter. Had to make a silicon gasket for the fan. The blades sit flush with the mounting surface, so I've got to space it out, but keep it sealed. Did yall know fans work better when they face the right way? Need to wire up the lower fan, I think I'm gonna put the intake and exhaust fans on separate switches. The bottom fan is gonna bring in fresh air, but I put it at a height where it will blow on seedlings and small plants, and if the canopy gets too thick will supply good airflow. I'll get the fans wired up tonight. I need to paint the inside of the small cabinet, and build a top for the electronics compartment. I've got the seedlings under the T12, light pretty close to them. What height above the plant do you guys run fluorescents during the seedling stage?

Got the 3 fans wired up, on two separate switches. 2 exhaust fans on 1 switch, intake on another. Getting much better airflow out of the exhaust fans now. For the intake fan, I drilled a bunch of 1 1/8" holes in a circle the size of the fan. My hope is that is slows the volume of air enough that it doesn't pressurize the cabinet and push air out somewhere other than the filter. I'm gonna pick up some black foam and build something around the fan to block the light.

What did you do to block the light for the fan? Did the foam work?

Thanks for the compliment! I got a charcoal filter from lowes that was "universally" sized. It comes with a plastic grate you trim and attach the filter to. 1 layer of filter isnt enough. I'm gonna try to find a one of those covers that people put over their floor vents to direct the air sideways instead of up. It only covers like half the vent. I'll paint it black, and put it on the inside of the wall to shade the opening from direct light. Here is a pic with 1 layer of fabric between the grill and a qb288. Looks super bright in the pic, but it's really just a glow.
