I have a growlab GLR-80 its about 2.5 x 2.5 x 7 feet
This picture includes 3 bag seed plants at week 10 of flower (they spent most of veg in a pc grow box)
Yield Mast II Supreme with glass (I added foil tape to all the seams because I suspected the rubber seal had a paper thin gap)
Hortilux Super HPS 400w
Lumatek 400w digital ballast (it rests on a chunk of wood with the fan on the floor blowing over it and also towards the air intake for the reflector)
Some superoots air pots (just got)
120 pound light hanger rope system (chains are there with a little slack in case the ropes fail, unlikely since they have a high weight rating)
analog thermometer with humidity gauge, the other thing hanging is a on sale for $7 wireless outdoor temp monitor (the remote reader also records max and min temps every day)
the filter is from the ebay store run by Foothill Filters ( http://cgi.ebay.com/6-x-14-ACTIVATED-CARBON-FILTER-ODOR-SCRUBBER-130-CFM-/120320407337?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c03a7b729 )
behind the pots on the top of the tent is a regular 120mm pc fan to pull cool air out of the light hood (powered by an old computer between the tent and the wall (also the timer outlet power strip rests on top of that computer))
2 15$ adjustable 2 speed (pretty quiet) clip on fans

uhh I think that is about it
if anyone can recommend a way to improve this set up that would be great! I realize I should buy one of those like 10$ things to run the pc fan instead of an entire old computer, I think I probably will in a couple weeks. And I might also move on to a more popular can fan filter combo because it seems this filter only catches 90-95% of the smell for some reason. If any of you can recommend a great can fan filter combo that is relatively cheap and quiet (I think the one I have now is like 45-50 dcb? whatever they measure fan noise by) and guaranteed to get all the smell. Right now I keep a little jar of ona block I got with my pc grow case (that these plants spent most of veg in) next to my open window during light hours.

Questions:
Would it be better to rest the filter on the floor and have it blow out the side of the tent using one of the ports?

PS: The books are Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow, my highschool graduating yearbook, and I think a copy of Left Behind that I've never read (thought the premise of the series was interesting but never read any of the books)
The box is for my gaming computer's psu, and that piece of black paper at the bottom under the one pot I put there because I'm just a little paranoid of the light bouncing off the reflective bottom and shooting up into the pot and hurting the roots (also to catch any drips of water even though that bottom of the tent is removable for the sake of keeping the rest of the tent clean)

Dont need the whole computer, just take out the power supply and use it by itself. you can cut the two wires and short them together to make it run all the time like in these pix of mine.

glad I found the thread, as I can use the help. Don't have pics yet, tent is up but I'm still working on my filter fan combo. I only have a 2ft 8 bulb T5. Bought the tent cuase the wife couldn't stand the dank smell of my bubblegum. I my switch to a 400w hps cool tube if I concur the smell issues.

we cant smell a thing coming from our tent using a carbon can just the humidity and temperature is a problem gettin a small dehumidifier thoe and were using a 600 watt hps in a 1.2 by 1.2 meter tent so u could say we are asking for trouble

cool thread!

I'm using a Homebox L with 400w HPS.

I have two circulating fans, a carbon filter attached to an inline fan. I also have one of those C02 Boost buckets.

I've gone from growing 15 plants at a time in this tent to just 4 plants this time/ Still trying to find the perfect number of plants and veg time for optimum yield with my setup.

Here's my current grow:

Today at day 41 of 12/12:

i use a grow tent as well i ren a 250w Eye Hortalux HPS and a 250w Philips CMH at same time at flower i throw in a UVB-20 in for an hour a day as far away from plants as i can get in a 39 inch sq tent

the drawing is of a top view of my tent better then a pic the pic was confusing

yellow is lights one sun 2 built in ballast (sucks fr heat issues) and one cool tube outside ballast
green is booster fans from lights and inline fan to scrubber
black is scrubber (also duct going out of tent at top leads to another fan and scrubber outside tent)
red is duct work
blue is duct fittings

a pretty complex system does not move up and down so plants move instead works fine lights are the best of both worlds eye and cmh

1Luv

I'm very stoked by peoples success with the carbon filters, I hooked mine up yestarday. I barely have room to close the tent. My wife is seriously worried about temps in the tent. I need to pick up a thermometer to show her it's not hot in there. The exhaust air coming out the back is not hot at all. Though I have the bottom front of the tent open with a fan blowing in.

got a quastion for you bro. now you got 2 fans, one for the carbon and one for the reflector. but the smell is still getting sucked out trough the reflector. there is no point of having a carbon filter if your not not gena filter the entire air you pul from the tent. not trying to be funny or any thing :) im just saying this becouse your pulling hot air out frm reflector (wich is what you should be doing) but the air thats getting sucked trought your reflector its unfilterd air thats come from the tent. if your not botherd about the smell then just take the carbon filter of it will suck out much more!

i can tell you a way to suck air from the filter trought ur light and straight out the tent if you want to know ;) p.s your on a good start

Yes I know..LOL, I tryed useing just the 1 fan and the filter but the temps inside the tent were to high 90+ degrees. So I had to add a second fan for the light. They both vent out the same PVC pipe and blow outside. I dont have any neighboros so smell really isnt a issue. My thought was once it gets smelly the light fan will only be on 12hours(same as light), but the carbon filter and fan will be 24/7, so I will only be venting some SMELLY air 12 hours a day. I might have to change things up if it really becomes an issue. The vent goes out the back of my house and I dont have anyone within a 1/4 mile of my house so I think it will be ok.

Thanks for noticing:) Stlmatt

but any advice on how to solve the issue 100% would be great.

well to sort the issue out n if u got the money get a cool tupe, that will sort u out rite, a cool tube is the cheapest metherd on keeping the light cool and it really does a top job. what inches and cfm are your both fans? and what light do you have in your reflector?
