Growing from seed

I live in Hawaii and I’m wondering if I pick certain strains will I be able to grow from seed with no artificial light with veg cycle.

Strains like:
Hawaiian Snow, ChemDogg. OG Kush.

Will birds attack my sprouts?

When I started seeds in the ground it was raccoons not birds that caused the issues.
The bird issue solved when I put a net up they were diving into the plant for the praying mantis nymphs.

My two cents is I would grow at least one Hawaii landrace strain.
