Growing Indoor to Find Good Outdoor Phenos

Im in Canada. After a bad outdoor run with some Freezeland I got from Smoke a Lot Seeds (promoted as a mid to end of Sept harvest and they went end of Oct and still not done...started to snow), I am turning to the outdoor gurus for some advice.
I want to run a few outdoor strains inside now with the goal being looking for good outdoor phenos to mother. Is this even possible to judge how they will work indoors compared to out? Ive got Blue Timewarp from Jordan and looking at a couple others. Anybody tried this? Am I wasting my time? I was an outdoor commercial grower for years but we just used clones from one strain year after year. Buddy fried our mom and this year was a disaster. It sure sucks to waste a whole outdoor season just to find phenos that will finish in this climate. Anyone?

Honestly Doob its gonna be hard to make that call with a indoor grow. I have tried the same thing only to find out that they responded completly different when I grew them outdoors. It worked with some plants , while others went much longer then what I expected. The other problem I encountered was that some of those strains that are typically known for being "outdoor strains" just absolutly hated it indoors. If your going to do a indoor grow anyway well why not turn it into a grow to accumulate info on each strain you grew...how long it took to finish, which pheno was it..ETC You have nothing to loose. Can you aquire the genetics you used to run before you lost your mother??

The other problem with outdoor growing is that the micro climate varies from year to year. I have grown out some of the same genetics for several years running only to see them grow completly different from one year to the other....using the same soil, same food same everything sooooo. The only thing that was diffrent was the weather.

plants from seed don;t want to flower until "mature"
a good way to know if a plant is mature, is when the nodes alternate, the flowering response should be much shorter than putting an immature seedling into flower.

also, a good way of starting the budding process early is figuring out a way to cover your plants.
covering plants 2 weeks prior to starting flowering will help sometimes, cut down the harvest window 2 weeks before rainy/snowy season comes..

indicas are usually much quicker to finish than sativa's, but you have to be more careful about rot because of density; this means they must be planted somewhere where it gets full morning sun, so that every morning the dew will evaporate off the babies to reduce chance of mold while the morning temps rise

Only one way to find out is to grow them strains TimeWarp and others. Who knows you might end up with better yield than what you can get indoors with the natural growth process and all. Being an outdoor grower, you surely can do it this time with a different strain.

its hard to find phenos without doing an outdoor run first.same plant inside can do different out.i have had good experiances with dimafem - blue hash, blue widow-end of sept, barneys farm-lsd-end of sept liberty haze and g13 white lavender begining of oct.on breeders sites you just have to go thru all of them and find ones listed with good mold resistance or look for certain genetics like-blueberry,timpwarp,lavender,korean,etc. i like good % of thc and decent yields all of those put out 4 to 12+ per plant

that's total BS lol. my best outdoors is from finding phenos indoors.. just make sure u find plants that finish as fast as possible.. and add Protekt to your outdoor nute line up... ull be surprised to see less mold and a much sturdier plant.

also remember.. the spot u pick to grow.. may be the most amazing spot.. during the summer.. but come harvest .. its a totally different environment.. this is why u test spots.. toss 10 plants here.. 10 there.. and see how they do.. then pick ur final /Spot to continue at.. in all reality.. with hunters being told to report EVERYTHING. and people being little wana be heros and CRIME STOPPERS.. OUTDOOR GROWS ARE POINTLESS unless u go LEGAL. medical. grow in a nice home made GREENHOUSE locked up outdoors.. and u don't got to worry about dick.. especially mold and shit. and if u wana make one.. just grab a car port.. and plastic.. remember.. u want to have your Roof.. 2 different kinds.. 1 dark out roof that hangs over your entire carport blackening it out .. 1 just plastic,., an use a zipper to put them on. so u can roll them bak and let the sun in if havng mold issues.

For outdoor I have had the best luck with blue widow, blue hash, diesel, frisian dew, northern lights big bud, white russian, ak-48. BUT most all phenos are different unless it is a super stable strain. The frisian dew is the most stable strain I have ever grown. I have ordered it from dutch passion 3 times and its the same exact bud every time. Gets huge, with huge sweet resin soaked buds. I have crossed it for 4 years now and the frisian dew traits still dominate. Its extra resistant to mold, the plants will die before it starts to rot, and I grow is the most humid, cold, rainy spots ever!! blue widow and blue hash same thing, the plants die before they rot. Wappa, sweet purple and belladonna from paradise seeds also kicked ass!! The wappa was the fruit god bud, smelled just like berries or fruit, tasted like fruit, tonz of crystals and good size kholas from top to bottom. some of the very bottom branches, had buds bigger than my partner's top buds. sweet purple had some different phenos, 1 out of 5 was the darkest bud ive grown, purple isnt the color, it was black, the whole plant, leaves stems, buds, black as night!! Diesel and northern lights big bud were the strongest stones, and the diesel was dripping with resin, tricoms almost 1/16 of an inch long with huge mushroom heads. The sweet purple, frisian dew and the blue hash won me the big bud contest at my local fest last year (harry's hill harvest fest) which is held the first weekend of oct. so figure 2 weeks of drying, most of the plant was done by sept. 20-25 (the longer you leave them, the better they get so dont cut early unless you have too.

the white russian is my all time fav. all around consistancy, I measured a 12ft 10in plant last year. The stalk was as big as a beer bottle, and I got 1.5 lbs of dryed trimed bud of good quality. Ak-48 and the white russian's are fast as hell, the first finsher's out of every strain i grew last year,(25+ strains) nice to have some early bud after all the hard ass work. sept. 5th they were 100% mature, amber trich's, and not a drop of mold. If a frost hits em 2-3 times they turn all shades of beautiful colors.

you must also remember if the soil isnt rich with compost, cow shit, chicken shit,,,, and so on, they plants will strip the soil by august and just make the plants weak, not make huge buds not get very tall or bushy and just makes bud that isnt sweet at all. I did a test last year, dug a tiny hole (bout the size of a 5gal bucket, put promix blood meal and bat guano and that was it. come september, the plants were 3ft tall, tiny buds and smelt like shit, really shit!!

I would recommend one of those strains my self. You will be happy with your results i can almost promise you that ( if you grow them in a good spot, give them plenty of soil amendments, once you think you have enough, add more)!! but dont let the roots touch it, let them grow into it on their own. hope this helps man.
