Growing "SCROG" and could really use HELP!

HELP! I’m new to the whole “Scrog” growing method, hell; truly I’m new to growing all together. I have made it through two grows and working on my third but honestly I will say the second one. Now I’m working a DWC system similar to the one in the images from GH Farms (I want the two rings for better watering) and built my screen 3’x2’ based on my grow space but just haven’t figured out how high over the buckets the screen should go and how many plants I can get away with growing.

Here is my info on what I am going to be running for my next grow:

3gal black bucket (for roots)
5gal black bucket (for water, air stone & nutrients)
600 watt HPS (Flowering)
Business Air pump
(Grow space: approx. 5’x3’x5&#8217 *height is based on hanging rail



1. With the limited space that I have is it safe to run my 600 watt light in that closet?
2. How many plants based on the system would be safe to grow under SCROG?
3. How high over the top of the bucket should I have the screen?

If you don't have any flammable stuff below it, (like paper, cardboard, cloth, etc.) it is fine to run an HPS in there. But, I would take advantage of that cooltube, It prolly gets real hot in there. It would probably make it safer as well.

put your screen high enough to get in there and prune...............8" - 12"
