Growing seems so simple.

Hey guys.
Every time i grow a plant somehow it gets screwed up in the flowering phase. The leaves start rapidly turning yellow. I check the runoff EC every day&it is around 500-800. I should not be having problems. I dont understand it. This is the last time i ever use nutrients. It has to be a nutrient problem. Plants were never meant to have nutrients. I give the nutrients about twice a week. I use General Hyrdoponics MaxiGrow&MaxiBloom at this time, powder form. I put in 1/4th a tspoon in a half gallon container of water of the MaxiBloom. THe plant was fine with perfect green leaves all the way up until the flowering process where the leaves started rapidly turning yellow in about week 4 of flowering! I water the plants every day with plain water 5 out of the 7 days&i used the mix about twice a week. The past couple days i have been giving water. I dont know what to do. Anytime i run into this problem in the past i would give the plant a flush and the problems would subside but I hate to flush the plants,a lot of people are against doing that. How else would u fix this problem? The plants arent being over watered either, its really dry every day. I Water til theres a half a water bottle of runoff water&then i check the runoff water EC. I dont check the PH levels bc I use coco coir mix soil which messes with the PH levels,i make sure to give it water in between 6.5-6.6-No more no less. What are my options at this point. A couple days ago i gave it a little bit of extra water about 5 hours after initial water to double check the EC&When i go back to give it a little more water to check the runoff ec,it would be noticably higher, The one day it was at 600 when i tested it initially and then later in the day it ccame up as 1250&that was when i realized that wait a minute theres a problem here. Why would the runoff EC be different? That day i watered it a few times with low EC levels&proper PH to lower the levels&it worked.I went to bed&woke up the next day &the leaves only got worse. I have been watering with plain water ever since. THe EC levels appear to be within the proper range of 500-800. Idk if the problem is fixed&i worry tomorrow i wake up with more yellow leaves. Its midnight, I watered around 12 noon. I just gave the plant water until i got a runoff&then i tested the little bit of runoff just to see if its within range&its still at 750. I have no clue what the problem is,very annoying.

How are they turning yellow? Are they fading away with the whole leaf surface getting lighter and the leaves becoming thin and limp? Or are they going kind of yellow/brown all over and becoming thick feeling and brittle?

With the first one the plant isn't getting enough nutrients and stealing the mobile ones from the older leaves. This is fine near the end of the plant's life but it's a little early for that yet.

With the 2nd one it would indicate a toxic salts buildup from long term overfeeding that has teh plants storing extra nutes in the leaves until it hits a toxic level and begins burning the leaves all over generally starting with older fan leaves and at the end frying even the tiny sugar leaves right up against the buds.

Some pictures would help and what's your rh been like as toxic buildup happens faster and worse in dry conditions.

Hey. The leaves have turned yellow on the bottom&brown towards the top but the light is the proper distance,Maybe i didnt adjust it quick enough as the plant grew&i assumed they got burnt one night, idk. There are white spots on the specs on the leaves but the specs arent mildew bc that usually blows right off,i had that happen on a plant before. A couple random leaves near the bottom have random spots on an otherwise green leaf and the spots look like they sucked out all the green out of that circled spot. Im not sure if that was from a light being too close one night or from something spilling on the plant.I vape nicotine juice& i shook my vape pen thing and a little bit of the liquid may have squirted in the direction of the plant but that is all i can think of that may have caused it. The plant is still in relatively good shape but a lot of the fan leaves are the ones that turned yellow,The leaves are discolored, lightening a little bit. Some yellow leaves are half green&u ccan see the leaf dying.

I apologize, i dont have a camera today, i will be able to take pictures tomorrow. I tried explaining it exactly as much as possible.
I also just saved my house from a fire as im getting ready for bed and somehow the connecter part of the light where the cord plugs in was red hot&got burned all the way through. Something told me to get up now before i fell asleep&had to get up&adjust plants b4 bed. So now im down a light But, hey, at least im not down a house. I have no clue how this happened, I was cleaning and i tripped over the cord earlier in the day,it must have pulled out wires or some shit!

Should I give the plant a flush before things get even worse? I have done this in the past and it seemed to have stopped the plant from completely dying but everyone says to refrain from using that. The leaves that are turning yellow are just losing the color, becoming yellow&then basically falling off the plant. some of the leaves up towards the top of the plant are browned,a little crisp and the leaf tips are slightly curled&there are white specs on the leaves but those white specs dont wipe off or anything like you would see if theres mildew pebbles/dust. I have read curled leaves implies nutrient lockout. What are my options here.

Sounds like you have more than one issue going on but without pics I'd just be throwing darts at a moving target or playing darts while too pissed to see the target. :)

These white specs that don't wipe off don't sound like a nutrient problem but possibly bugs like mites. If you have any sort of magnifying glass I'd check carefully on the undersides of any leaves that have said spots and look for tiny black spots that move around and some that don't. Mite eggs look like large resin glands stuck right to the leaf surface without a stalk holding them up. Usually just here and there on the surface.

Take a look at this chart and carefully read the clues around the pictures of various deficiencies or excesses. It can take some detective work to figure out what is really going on. Overwatering with root rot blocking things. Salts buildup etc etc. pH is a biggy for multiple problems. Can block some nutes while making others act stronger.

It's often best to just give your plants what they need then LITFA. Leave It The Fuck Alone.

It generally doesn't hurt to do a partial flush at least to wash any buildup out of the pots. If you have even barely hard water mineral salts from the water can build up along with nutrient salts to make things worse. I'd mix up 1/4 strength nutes at the right pH and pour enough thru to get about the same volume of runoff as what the pot can hold. That will remove a lot of gunk and replace it with a mild but balanced batch of nutes.

Good luck eh.

Switch to a peat based soil and stop the crap with the coco. Or switch straight to hydro.

It is simple. People spend to much time worrying and trying to "fix" stuff.
Agree...... it's a weed. It dose not require much as far as nutes. Most pics i see on here are burnt up with salts and over feeding. Pests are another issue, but if you don't have those, just have an IMP schedule in early veg, and you'll be fine....... Keep it simple. Weed can be excellent without the latest 700 Rspec, or the endless number of additives. They just need the basics. A good environment, and decent temps and RH.

100% agree
You don't even need to check on them every damn day. Their not dogs.

Some of the best weed I made was non commercial..... I grew some Anesia strains in my mother tent after shutting down the Commercial grow op.. I didn't really give a fuck about them... just checked on them every couple of days. Gave them little attention, and it's the best weed we've ever grown.

What is coco coir mix soil? Is it straight coco/perlite or is it a coco based soil with compost and other things mixed with it?

Looks like you might have bugs.

You can easily shrink the file size of your photos using the freeware GIMP photo editor. It's available for Windows, Linux, And MAC.

This is fucking so annoying, the size of the picture wont allow me to upload it!!!!!!
Those aren't too big. Can be up to 10meg but I hate them that large. I resize mine on the computer from 9meg down to less than 1 and they are sharp and clear. Using a 20.1mp camera to take my pics. People using phone cameras should lower the resolution on their phones to make file sizes smaller especially if posting a lot of pics. Some pages can take 5 min to load for me so I don't load them.
