Please see above quotes to the bear.

Luckily that ain't happening at the moment.

Agreed. Which makes this a tough debate.

Thats what our 450 thousand trillion billion defense budget is for. :)

True statement.
It is a complicated subject for sure.

I'm pro gun. That includes owning "assault" weapons.

I'm against gun show loops. Matter of fact, I wouldn't oppose having to do private sells with a ffl.

At the moment, you are allowed to build your own fire arm. It can never be transferred. The 80% receivers I don't know that I agree with. That's not really building it.

With the exception of a couple guns I have inherited, I have bought all mine from a ffl.

I agree something needs to be done. I have been around guns since a kid. Taken several hunter and gun safety courses, been trained by the military and qualified "expert" on every time at the range while in the service. I keep guns locked up and safe. I just don't think people that fall in this category should have any restrictions on their gun ownership.

Personally, I like the 80% firearms. Have one AR and am looking to build a 1911. I do have an acquaintance that has built AK's without an 80% lower. He used heavy gouge sheet metal and pop rivets lol. Has 3 or 4 working AK's now. He's fired over 1000 rounds through one. I'm still a little leery about firing one though.

1911 is an excellent hand gun. Would be my first choice.

The thing is, since the 80% doesn't qualify as a fire arm you can order them with no check. Some jack as orders one and knocks the plug out and then goes on a shooting spree it will ruin it for the rest of us.

There is no reason to a 80% receiver except to bypass a background check. I can buy stripped ar lowers for fifty bucks and get a complete upper and lower build kit with stock and buffer tube for $299 from a reputable online vendor. That $350 for a complete ar15. That's full auto bcg and chrome chamber and hammer forged barrel.

Bypassing background check is the only reason and I'm not OK with that.

I am ok with it, as I believe there is a place in this world for unregistered firearms. The whole Hitler gun registry thing is a major reason that I like them.

I agree but there are many as it stands. Just because you fill out paperwork to buy a gun doesn't mean its registered. That would be against the law, depending on state. If they did come to the door looking, "I sold it.".

I doubt they will accept your word. And yes, there are a lot of unregistered firearms out there. The majority tend to be fairly old ime, but they are there.

And now that the 80% cat has been let out of the bag, it ain't going away. Might be forced to go on the black market, but that will just make somebody more money.

Most 80% ar's that I have seen require some hogging out the interior of the lower and drilling holes for your pins. Can be done on a drill press with a jig but cnc is preferable imo.
They make black polymer ones with white plugs. Drill and dremel the white parts. Easy,

In a state like here there is no registration law. Once they are bought, there is no tracking them.

Its cool though, that's your opinion. We will just have to agree to disagree.

I heard they will all be going to ffl dealers and made public from there. While likely well used, they were probably well maintained before being put in storage. I have a buddy that was an armorer (?) that has told me some pretty good tales of guys getting ripped for lack of maintenance.

Cool idea with the polymer lowers. I just don't care for polymers in my guns. Especially if the AR is running direct impingement. Might be ok with a piston kit (like I have on mine) so your hot gases aren't getting in there. I went with the piston because I invested a lot of money in my trigger kit and wanted to keep the hot gases and carbon from getting to my expensive springs.
