We have drones that can do that job. We destroy the camp, they just come back. Each time we kill a bystander with a drone, we kill any hope of winning over the people in the area. When we invade or occupy, they just melt into the population and start guerrilla actions. The civil war in Iraq is a good example of what happens when we occupy. Its up to the people of Libya to decide who will lead and about the only thing we can do is contain ISIS and provide aid to their enemies when it makes sense to do so.

Also, make national defense mean what the words say -- National Defense -- instead of International defense. Stay off other peoples lawn my dad always said.

Drones are not troop dispensers or ever meant to dispatch troops,...you need the manned strike force.

Get drones outta ya head, they are limited and carry little payloads. They are not and never will be a match for manned artillery deployments.

The area these trainees were in had one way out, ..they were pinned, the sea saved them. The Libyans are prolly pissed.

The Pentagon labeled it a decisive strike. It never happened because people like you have not seen what our ranks can do without being held back by political correctness.

Staying there is not part of the plan.

So, what's your plan again? How many troops, where will they be deployed, what kind of armament, is this a US operation or NATO, how many casualties do you expect, does the Libyan government agree to the invasion, what's the objective, and what's the exit strategy?

My plan,....??

A plan, yes, for the Pentagon to request a decisive strike, the game has been planned out and choice of weapons in play.

It`s a short order chef,...

I said there`s an LHD over there and as Far as I know why would it not be. 100 miles of coastline is within it`s coverage for deployment. There are three active and as far as I heard, one is always there. Learn what it is and what it does, then talk to retired crew, ...you`ll find it easy to see this type is deadly today and within a few hours. They don`t play games, they go, they kill, they return, and that return ratio is far grater than groups of ten wandering in territory they have never been to not knowing who is who. That issue is solved with the Buff. And another story.

But this was a chance to do damage and lots of it.

People like you that think this kind of task force stays behind are why things don`t get done.

They wanted to, but all those guys that said anything about the strategy got fired or forced into retirement. No agenda though,...Really.

In actual declared and warrant to serve, take most Ranks a few weeks. But that wont fly with politicians or Obama.

Instead, it`s a long, long road,...with many of winding turns............

That's a good point. However much of the military experience of a soldier is the same on either side of a conflict. They blindly obey. They seldom consider the option of not going to war in the first place.

They are thrust into combat and for some odd reason feel a "sense of duty" to obey orders to kill people,many of whom, like them, would simply rather have remained neutral and at home.

I liked reading about the World War One Christmas truce. That's the one where the soldiers in the trenches temporarily regained their sanity. If they had all been just a little more courageous they could have prevented a lot of unnecessary death by staging a Peace rally and telling their masters to pound sand.
