Lil experiment with getting seed/small tap root into the system. Just some thin closed pore foam. X cut in the center. I tried a few seeds with a short tap root into the thick foam last night but the root barley sticks through. These should hold the seed and make it esier to place it untill it can go into the thick foam. Tooth pick for reference.

Things started a little rough. Clone moms were small plants not in prime. But starting to really take off.

Is it loud like a home use espresso machine? Does it make a fine must more like HP aero compared to LP aero?
It buzzes like a machine does. Louder cuz I have it mounted on an almost empty pail.
Pressure isn’t as much as I’d like was suposed to 1.5 bar 21psi. Maybe a 2psi. doubt it would make fine mist. Won’t run 4 misters.
I’m also running a 12v cheep pump in a 5 gal pail. Runs 5 heads LPA 180 deg. misters great. Very quiet. Think they say it does 16’ head.

Most submersible pumps are relatively low psi. Head height(ft.)/2.3 = psi

Yes and some are better than others. The 12 v above advertised 7psi. May be close it does trow the water out the net cup holes a few feet with the cup out.
I also use the 12v positive displacement pumps. And for the money they have done well. I have some that have been running for 2 years. Have replaces the odd check spring. Not quiet but I don’t care don’t grow in the house. Have one running 4 cheep misting heads and it does HPA type mist.

My other seed starter bucket coming along. All different ages. One in the middle should Probly be transferred into a post but this is just practice. This bucket has one of the positive displacement 12v pumps.

What type of misting heads are you using together with thus pump to get the HPA type mist?

Well first attempt was a fail.
Res too warm. Root rot. Things were going so good till they were not. Sigh. They fist showed some wilt.
I cut all the dead roots of and started treating but recovery wasn’t happening. So I ditched them all.

Round 2. These are all from seed I was experimenting popping in previous threads.
Going to see if hyperchlorous acid and a total rebuild of my RO system will keep the pathogens at bay. I think most of these were started on my old water that I think my RO was way past filter change out and was harbouring/passing some nastys. Plants are in different stages not good but will be a good test to see if I can cross the finish line.
Chiller would be the way to go but…..

Well, my first attempt at this new system in my new room was a bust. I was used to growing sterile in my previous F&D system, so I tried that again. But the water quality at my new house in another State is horrible, so I got root rot. I was adding ungodly amounts of bleach, still no go. So, I decided to use Superstoner's suggestion of bennies - Pondzyme and GFF. That cured everything. Now I have super healthy plants and snow white roots, with even less maintenance than the bleach schedule. My temps in the rezes get pretty high, and still no problems.

Fail, scrapped these plants.

Second attempt at flower, looking good.

Tweaked the veg tent, all is great -

Just pulled plants out of veg, and tranferred to flower. Look what my bennies do to my roots, even with 78 degree rez temps!

IMG_2897.JPG

Got my second flower system built and in yesterday with the help of my kid. He's so anxious to learn, and he rocks ;) I need to build just one more system to implement the 9 week perpetual scrog.

Just wanted to say thanks to all here for sharing their experiences and advice, I appreciate not having to reinvent the wheel. Especially Stinkbud and Superstoner. I really love this forum...

Thanks, Annie! I did run F&D in my old apartment, but since bought a house in an illegal state, I didn't want any media to dispose of. I've always admired this thread and its systems, so I thought I'd switch it up and grow in air to avoid media. It is pretty fun so far, I'm just not a natural DIY guy, so it takes me more time and effort to build all this shit than the average bear. Two more systems to go, and the room is DONE. Then I can get back to my natural state, which is sitting on my ass ;)
