Sativa plants are hard to finish up north, I only sprouted a few hazes this year cause they were freebies and I thought why not try it instead of tossing them, very concerned they wont fully mature in time
And that’s where I got duped with this fast version stuff. 5 plants fast with 7 week flower that’s not correct at all. And the freebie is a straight indica with 9 weeks. But did same thing. Figured I’ll grow it cause it was free. And it’s further along than 3 of my hazes.

I usually only run indica strains outdoors for that reason.. Next year Im looking at going okanagan grapes and a skunk #1 as my primary run for next season

Yeah I’m going to have to switch it up. I’m not interested in building a makeshift greenhouse on the fly. Hahaha.

Sounds like the exact scenario Autos were made for.
I've grown a few autos in tents for the novelty and experience but really don't see the advantage to growing autos indoors.

Outdoors however, it would seem the preferred choice for the majority of growers.
90 days from seed to chop would work virtually anywhere

I definitely hear that. And have a few friends that choose autos up here. I guess with them being my first grow and watching how pathetic they were I said I’d try fast this year. Well my plants are huge. But the fast is a bust. So I’ve got lots to think about for next year. See how all this finishes up first I guess.

ill stick with good ole reg photo seeds.. Maybe im a bit old school but when I first started growing over 20 years ago the only real viable option was reg photo seeds, guess we are creatures of habbit

Depends where you live.
Many photos will simply never finish before frost in northern latitudes.

In an area like yours I would look into a light dep hoop house next year. It doesn't have to be fancy or even have plastic on it during the day. But you can pull a tarp over it at night and start the plants into flowering sooner then they would naturally. Esspecially if you are starting the seeds indoors, and already have developed plants when they go outside. You could easily move your harvest a month or more to avoid issues with the cold in the fall.

Im saying myself personally, autos just are not a fit for me even tho I do live in northern latitudes, I just usually run indica strains and have no problems with finishing thankfully

Appreciate that. I will definitely look into it. I do start indoors mid April. Had nicely developed these girls by end of May when they went into the garden. I think with my high fence I should be able to construct something of it that I can cover. Thanks you.

So as promised here are some pics of the bud on the other 4 plants. A pic per plant. Judging by the consistent opinions of my furthest along girl having 4-5 more weeks. I’d say these are 7-8 weeks left. Which puts me into early November and unfortunately a definite problem with frost and freeze. The one pic is my pure indica and maybe a week ahead of the other 3 pics. Once again appreciate the opinions. I think I’m going to have no choice but to rig something up to cover these at night. Or I’ll lose them. Sucks as they are beautiful healthy girls. All really bushy and around the 7-9 feet mark. Even the pure indica is over 6 feet. Being my second grow I just wasn’t aware the “fast” versions are basically a scam. I chose them specifically for my northern climate. So pretty disappointed breeders are allowed to advertise like that. Anyway…just frustrated because I have to construct something. Thoughts on finish times appreciated.
cheers.

Funny. I live in the okanogan. I guess I’m going to have to figure it out for next year. But I’m a sativa guy. But also don’t smoke often. Just love the grow. So maybe just have to switch to straight indica grows.
Oregon Green Seeds breeds for faster finishing plants that are still high in quality. I grow some of their strains every year, even though I live in Oklahoma. Last year I had sativa dominant hybrid that was finished in mid Sept., tested 19% and had a great high! Here is a quick finishing sativa from them. https://oregongreenseed.com/shop/oregon-green-seed/djc/amnesia-hashplant-2/

I appreciate that. Thanks. I’m definitely a little turned off these fast versions right now. I have 3 strains growing all “fast” versions. 1 hits the 7 week mark in 2 days. It’s supposed to be done. But according to the consistent opinions on here there 4-5 more weeks. And the other 2 strains I just posted pics of above are done week 5 in 2 days. Supposed to have 2 more weeks, and although no one’s commented yet, I’d say based on previous comments, 7 more weeks.
I do thank you for sharing your personal experience though. That helps for sure.

I grow outside in Oregon and some years have a hard time finishing the plants.
Definitely rig something up, get a fan in there too and if you can, a heater. Safely of course.
Your plants need a month and you want to keep the moisture inside whatever you rig to a minimum.
Ironically I didn't grow outside this year and no doubt it will be the best fall.

I understand your frustration! If anything, I find that OGS under sells themselves. I need plants to finish early because there are so many pests and diseases here; the less time a plant takes to finish, the less things can happen to it. But I keep growing their stuff because they yield quality cannabis, the shorter flowering times are just a bonus!

Awesome! I’ll definitely make note for next year. Thanks. Now to get through this season. Lol

Just wanted to add to my original thread and ask what you guys think best to support these girls. After the consensus I have some time to go, I think I need to add some support. Starting to get a good lean on a couple.
I have a fence that runs the height of the plants, probably a bit higher, fence close to 10feet. Plants seem to lean away from it, so was just thinking of using some twine and tyimg it to the fence. Perhaps add a few 6 foot bamboo supports. Use some Velcro plant tape to secure. Stalks are pretty hardy. But don’t want to risk with some rain and cooler temps forecast. I’ll attach pics. You can hopefully make out the lean, and the fence I’m working with, and stalk size at base, and top cola. Thanks in advance.

Couple 6’ stakes Velcro taped to main stalk, and vinyl tape back to fence. I think they will be ok. I can always add more vinyl tape to existing supports to support branches now, if need be. Now we pray the weather holds.
