nice, how about showing more of the plant, like from further back? i have heard various descriptions of the plant, like growing to a foot tall? mine are about 4' tall, like little xmas trees. yellow streaks in many leaves, not much odor or trichomes yet. i need to take a pic of mine. jLet's see if can get a photo of the R4 buds as they are today:

Mine are about 6', and have some yellowing of the fan leaves. Had I stepped back to take the photo, they would be lost in the plants behind them. They have a very mild odor, but do have trichromes on the small leaves around the buds. I popped the seeds April 1, so they are six months old. They do have a xmas tree shape, but have a foot tall bud at the top. It has been two weeks today since the picture was taken, so they have matures some more. I'll get some more pics soon. I expect a killing freeze tonight.

6'? are they outside? did they freeze?i have a greenhouse that is heated and cooled so i am good for awhile. sealed air leaks today. tomatoes and peppers are still good. i have some cuts in the house just in case and i will be taking them through the winter in there. they will be ready to clone in a month or so, fourth generation now. also have a male super silver haze that will pop in a month or so for breeding. finding r4 pollen is a dream i suppose. i want to stop the pain meds the dr. has been giving me... j

So far they have survived two light frosts, two mornings of frozen rain, and a 27° heavy frost, yesterday, and similar today at 28°. I have half a mind to stick one in a pot after harvest, leave the two bottom branches and let it veg over the winter, so I can clone it in the spring. I did X-breed it with Bay 11 pollen, in hopes of a high CBD cross. Here they are on 10/3.

that's a beauty! the tops are bolting, like mine, need to fill in more though. mine i mean. i don't have a lot ot trichomes and what i do have are white now, no clear. i would think i would want them golden? first time growing r4 and don't know what to expect. my super silver haze male is just about to pop, think i had better bring it in the house for the sake of neighbors that don't want seeds although i think it is too late, they will be harvesting any day. so i will pollinate the cuttings i have with the ssh. better than no seeds at all. i have been spraying with tireisas mist but nothing so far. here's my #1 r4. j

I don't grow Indica strains much, the R4 is different. It doesn't have a lot of trichromes compared to many plants. my experience has been that by the time the trichromes are yellow, the plant is done. I think the sun turns the trichromes yellow when the trichromes stop growing. I like 'Marijuana Horticulture' by Jorge Cervantes as a guide.

i go by trichome color myself. i bought a couple magnifiers on ebay for 91 cents each, gave one to my neighbor but had already cut his plants the day before, with clear tris.
have you tried a bud off the r4? it's like my body is waiting for the stone but nothing and the pain turns to a rubbery feeling. great for back pain. j

how many times have you grown it? i thouht the seeds just became available this year. my trichomes are milky white. i cut the lower branches and dried a little to try and it is working well for pain. i have also trimmed most of the pollen pods off my super silver haze and have them in a jar where the pollen is accumulating in the bottom to pollenate a couple r4 clones. i would much rather use r4 pollen but don't know where i would get any. this is better than norhing. j

It's the first time I have grown it. I got the seeds from some buds I bought, and lucked out they were both females. They do have white trichromes, just not like some of my sativa hybrids. Some R4 pollen would be ideal, but I have been combining wax from R4 in equal amounts with THC wax, and it seems to work well on inflammation. Also the Altitude Seed Bank has various high CBD seeds, but they are about equal amounts THC and CBD, so R4 is an odd one. I cut them both, but left the two bottom branches on one, dug it up and put it in a pot. I will try to get it to survive for cloning in the spring. I did pollenate with Bay 11 so I hope to get a high CBD cross.

letting mine grow and fill in. i have a couple cuts in the house and i gave two to my neighbor who is really into growing, like mr. peabody... we are both committed to taking them through the winter and on. still summer in my greenhouse. i have dried some little buds and vaped it and my back is much better over a few days. cutting back on the lyrica and my doctor will think she fixed me. it is amazing how well this works. j
