Heatsinks for DIY LED lamps

there's another screw that has a no thread nub @ the end & not as deep cutting threads
I just set a 3590 holder with them into a test of how these drill/tap screws to see how they do setting a holder IMG_20160123_140419[1].jpg IMG_20160123_140457[1].jpg
into a AL bar 1" 2" aprox size !!!

What screw was it? Can you find a link to where to buy them?

And are you saying that you just screwed it right into the aluminum without even drilling a pilot hole?
 
( used a 3 /32 " drill bit as the final drill But started with a pilot hole even smaller
This bar that it's attached to is not oonly a test
But will be my template & drill guide as I assemble the array
lay that bar on top on sink then hand drill
straight down drilling is not a issue then when using a jig like this & it's a template as well
 
I'm still a little lost I'm sorry haha. So with that alum bar, you drilled a pilot hole with like a 1/16" then a 3/32", then you just screwed the screw in? No tapping. But that's only very thin alum not like a 1/4" base plate.
