I’ll be completely honest where my skills significantly lack and I get this foreboding feeling is in the dry/curling overall harvest .. if I can keep them growing 24/7 I’m good haha but I know that can’t happen! I have 20-30% rh in my house where I intend to dry... I’m open to brown bag dry box etc just wondering what my fellow gowmies would recommend... this day is quickly approaching and that feeling is getting stronger all the time lol!!!!

Brown paper bags will help slow drying in low RH, dont forget to move the buds around often to avoid mold. You could add a humidifier or try a weeddryer.

With curing you really need to adjust times to your own conditions. If you've overdried in the past, maybe consider leaving some of the fan leaves on when you hang them and don't hang until the branch snaps, they might be too dry at that point. Paper bags are a great transition tool to slow down drying. Other people can give better advice than me but look into leaving the leaves on, or also possibly hanging them to dry inside a large box to raise up your humidity-of course you still need air flow and you need to watch them like a hawk for any signs of fungus. Good luck!

Hey thanks I appreciate the reply what about full hang in cardboard box style and no pre trim to add a higher humidity then my only concern would be airflow and at tleast exhausting air at certain intervals maybe or not at all idk but so far the paper bag has been most successful in the past maybe I didn’t move em around enough or something

My rh is about 30 or less in the winter. I fucked up bad because of that my first 2 harvest. Your weed will dry in 2 days at that rh.

I have a small humidifier but all that did was make the rh in my tent 100%. And that was bad also. I'm sure they sell a humidifer that works in a small tent tho.

So what I do now is take a towel...soak the fucking shit out of it. Put it in the bottom of the tent and run a fan over the towel on low.

My rh stays around 63.

Take the towel out everyday and soak the shit out of it.

Hey thanks I like the hang with no wet trim in cardboard box idea so I did build one but I’m having trouble with knowing when to and for how long to exhaust the old air out with out over doing it and making no better then open air dry.... tough this trial and error thing I appreciate any advice !

Winter drying is always fun. I've heard people say you can ruin a good harvest during the dry and cure and while that is possible, it's not likely unless you let them mold or just don't generally pay any attention to it.

I would hang dry for the first 2 days in the low humidity, I always like to make sure to get the big majority of water out and run low the for first couple days anyways. After 2 or 3 days at low humidity the buds will start to feel crispy but the stems still bend instead of breaking. At that point remove any large stems or leaves that are left and put in a paper bag. You will have to check daily after that as soon as the stems are breaking instead of pliable it goes to a jar for a week or two of being burped daily(if at any time the nugs feel moist when you go burp jar leave top off for half a day). Then I add a boveda 62 humidity pack.

You think hang the ladies with no wet trim in box and vent out box twice a day so @30mn every 12hr.. it’s more just do it then it is guess it.... at least I’m writing everything down this time so I don’t keep repeating history like fucking Groundhog Day!

Your gonna hang straight from plants buds in that box and vent twice a day?

BIG NO from me on that. That's not nearly enough air movement for fresh wet plant matter.

Your really overcomplicating this I believe. I've grown a lot of bud and have dried it in all kinds of conditions and haven't ruined any yet.

The box would be good for slow drying after a day or two of hanging to get the excess moisture out. But there is a ton of water in fresh material and your asking for trouble unless you run that fan all the time and even then I'd monitor the humidity to make sure it doesn't go too high in the small space.

I’m really just shooting from the hip man I can tell it shows by your reaction! And I completely appreciate it ...every winter dry it’s always been way to fast and then saved by paper bags and I’m just really looking for a more effective less moving of plant around and really slowing down the dry time and you’re right I am over complicating it I’m known for it

I overcomplicate all the time and understand wanting a perfect 60degree 60rh dry but it's damn near impossible in the winter when it's cold and you don't have precision climate controls. Boveda packs are essential for storage in winter or patients might mention how dry it is, most don't seem to care to them it means they are getting more flower, lol. But I like the packs for getting them back to where they should be.

I prefer to wait until after a week or two of curing before adding the boveda packs.

If I'm underestimating the size of your grow and you have a lot of material then substitute plastic totes with lids for the brown bag in the method mentioned above and turkey bags instead of jars.

Your initial dry is gonna be super fast with that low of an rh, and in my opinion that's fine, you just need to slow down the second part of the dry which is after the majority of the water is gone. The outside of the buds can even feel crispy but the stems and insides have water in them. You wanna slow that last bit of moisture coming out and a brown bag or your box is good for that. Monitor close as soon as the stems go from bending to breaking go to a jar. Check after 24 hours if the buds feel too wet leave the top off for half a day. If they feel dry or just right continue with burping once a day for a week or until smell comes back and the green plant smell is all gone. I usually do a smoke test to make sure that it's ready and not still planty tasting . After I'm sure it's good usually about 1.5 to 2 weeks in jar I add a boveda pack.

It's so much easier if you have a room to dry in where you can control the humidity and temp. I'm assuming you don't have another room. I would dry in my bedroom and sleep on the couch for 2 weeks rather than quick dry or venting a carboard box.
