help me troubleshoot my new led build

So I finally had time to put my build together. I plug it in and wow it worked great. I plug it in 10 times showing my wife and brother and it worked wonderful. Tonight I wanted to plug it in for an hour or so to see what temp it would get. Well I checked on it an hour later and it was off and would not come back on. I checked all my connections, and all them look good.
I have MW driver HLG-185H-C700B, 4 CREE CXB3590 72v usa heat sink I also added a potentiometer and it was working great. I don't have any kind of meter, but I can buy one if need be.

Buy a meter, it will make checking everything a lot easier. Plus if you're gonna build lights, you really need access to one. Even a digital Sears one will be good.

I'm not familiar with that driver so wait for others to make suggestions but you should be able to test each COB with the driver because of it's built in over-voltage protection.

Does anyone think the driver got baked? 72 x 4 288 and the top rated voltage for that driver is 286.

Before it stopped working it was pulling 218 v from wall. I tried a brand new driver and it didn't work either.

I have 4 more. I was going to build 2 lights. If one of the cobs doesn't work does it make the rest not work? Can I just hook one cob to the driver to see if it works? They don't looked damage. I was going to put the other cobs on but that fucking thermal grease gets everywhere when you try to take one off. Can anyone suggest a thermal pad that's the same size 3590 cob?

maybe recheck the connections with a 'pull test' before going to all that trouble? you can light up a cob for a second to see if it works w/o a sink and it will be fine, but idk about with that driver.... probably easiest to by a 20 dollar DMM and test it out.

My thoughts.

Or he somehow tripped the breaker on that circuit or the gfci on that outlet.

Sounds fishy but also FranJans observation about the drivers max vF is valid.

I had a power cord with a fuse that was blown one time....

At 700ma the volts should be under 70 per cob....280. Well within the specs. If you read 218v then you were missing one possibly..

Sure its not just a bad connection somewhere? Check the cobs..polaritys..

soldered or holder? Soldered could be touching the sink somewhere...holder might look good but not be making contact...cob in backwards in holder..done that..

I used a holder I did find a skinned wire where I pulled through a drilled hole on heatsink, but it didn't look like it had shorted out. Put new wire, still nothing!!! It might be a week or so till I get to work on it again. I will try to test my drivers with meter as soon as it come in.
