Help with scrog please

Looking really good. I ran dwc scrog my first grow on here and loved it. Did a soil grow. 5 bushes lol. I prefer the symmetry of scrog. Tiger, you've inspired me to go back to scrog... Maybe I'll try a soil scrog this time. Happy growing.... I'm subbed
I'm liking the ease of the coco dtw. They're fed 3x per day and all I do is adjust the pH maybe every 3 days. I'm testing a 14 day no hands right now. Meaning I'm seeing what happens if left unattended for 2 weeks. I'm going on vacation for probably the last 2 weeks of this grow and want to see if they can stay healthy for that long without a rez change.

Oh ok I see. There is nothing wrong with CoCo don't get me wrong. I just prefer Organic Soil. The nicest thing with Organic is ph is not a concern. Can it be used with my mix now? No because I jumped on the Organic Layering " SuperSoil" bandwagon and I am in the middle of that one. My mix is Organic but it would not be the best way to start out a No Till or a ROLS because the base of the mix is bagged soil. I am currently in the workings of making my a new soil mix similar to the ones in the links I provided. So I am doing some switching as well. The No-Till is one of the best methods for Organics, but it is really only suitable for larger spaces ( 20 gallon and up ) or raised beds. You can still recycle your soil though after each harvest ( root ball and all ) and you get the same benefit of healthier soil as it progresses. At the end of the day I don't want to press the Organic thing too hard because it is best for you practice what growing style works best for you;

How long do you plan to flower? You may return with them still not ready. I found that out this last grow lls. Supposed to be an 8 week. Turned to 10 almost 11 week.

Also, I'm sure as long as you got the Rez size to water like you do, you'll be fine 2 weeks.

From everything that I've read from other growers it says the C99 is ready in like 50 some days so I waited to flower longer than I wanted to so I didn't miss the harvest window. If they're still not ready, that's OK. I just didn't want to come home to over ripeness.

Yea I hear that. It's hard to tell. Honestly in my experience only, always add a week or two. I've read forums which confirms that, but take it with a grain of salt. I've read some breeders count from after stretch not from 12/12 switch. Again only articles I've read. Anyhow can't wait to see more. Happy growing

One thing I did not mention is your difference between Night and Day temps. If your night temps are more than 10 degrees colder than your day temps it will stretch more.than if you are within 10 degrees or less. I don't know if you have tried moving the lights any closer, but there is a chance they desire more light and are stretching more than they should be. Even if you can move lights down 1/2" it will make a difference. Just to be sure to pay close attention and back the lights off if you start seeing signs of light burn. Hope that helps

I did not lower the lights because it doesn't seem like I get good coverage with them much lower. I started out with them at about 16" and now they're probably at like 13". The temp differential is probably more than 10 degrees also. What is the ideal height that you want to be above the screen?

Ok I understand. I would definitely put a heater in that room at night to keep it a 10 degree difference or lower. The more of a difference in Night and Day temps the longer the inter-nodal distances will be ( longer stretchier colas ). I currently have a small heater I have to turn on in my room at night. I have a thermostat gauge that tells me what the highs and lows of the room were and I adjust the heater accordingly. I wouldn't say there is a ideal height you want off of the screen. All strains stretch differently so it would be hard to give a broad brush answer. Most of the SCROG's I have run are usually ( 6-8" at the most ) above the netting, but that is a ball park.

Ahh OK. That makes sense. I'm definitely have a problem regulating heat in there. Its been as high as 88 and as low as 68. I had to put a dehumidifier in there and it seems it generates heat also.

Ok that is the main problem causing the stretching ( more than they should ) I think. 80 is the highest you want to go in your grown room. Preferably no higher than 78 and no lower than 10 degrees lower than that. Is the AC not cold enough? or not powerful enough?

Well my space is set up kinda strange but its the only space I had. I'll try to explain... I have a 5'x 5' room in my garage that used to house a bladder tank for a well. It is under my 5' wide staircase the leads up to my living room. There is an opening in there with access to the crawlspace under the first level of the house. That crawl space has all of my ductwork in it Which I'm sure leaks so on its own, this room stays pretty close to what I have the house temp set at which is 67 but I have a little oil filled electric heater in there to bump it up to around 75. This room because of the steps has a height restriction so this is my veg room. I then built a wall on that same side of the garage to make my flower room. Its sealed pretty tight. I ran a 6" duct with a duct fan in it from the veg room to it to pull fresh air and heat. This is getting long. So anyways the LEDs are putting out enough heat that they are raising the temp on warmer days to in the 80's. Then at lights out its cooling off due to it being winter down to in the 60's. This is only my 3rd grow and first one in the winter so my setup needs some tweaking as far as hvac. I had a portable ac unit in there in the summer and that did pretty good however I think it raised the humidity making it necessary for me to use a dehumidifier which in turn raised the heat. Not sure really what my solution will bill. Sorry for the long winded reply.

No worries, helps me to get a better picture. Yea winter growing is a different beast entirely depending on where the grow is and surrounding temps. From the sound of things it is just something you will have to play with. One thing I noticed this SCROG ( I am in the middle of ) the stretching stopped at around day 10 of Flower for me. Now this isn't to say it will be the exact same time for you ( different strains etc..), but at least it will give you a little relief to know the " stretch " will soon be over. Just out of curiosity what day are you on?
