herbtoker's first grow: easy sativa, northern lights, and pure afghani

so its day 12, theyre lookin pretty good. they all have their second sets of real leaves growin, and i was excited when i saw that. then... FUCK! more rain and cold temps tomorrow. and possibly snow!
AHHHHHHHH!!!! again!
i covered them today and really hope that it doesnt snow and that my poor babies survive. geez, this isnt goin good! i am woried about them everyday!
and i went to check on them the other night, and saw a beaver there! it was cool, but im gonna kick some beaver ass if he eats my weeds! does anyone know if they eat cannabis? i hope not, id love another growin partner  but if he eats my stuff im gonna be mad. ill have to make some pepper sauce when they get a little bigger. and also theres a turtle! he's always right next to the plants but sitting in the water. im not worried about him, but the trees are all chopped down from mr. beaver so if he chops down my plants id be very mad.

i took some pics about 2 hours ago. let me know what you think. i added a little more soil to one of their pots, thats why that one in the right front has soil all over it.

There are coming along fine don't worry so much (I know easy for me to say, I worry about mine all the time too).
The one in the back looks to me like mine did when I was overwatering.
Do you have drainage holes cut in the bottom of the cups?
Me I'd be more concerned about the turtle than the beaver, guess it depends on how eager he is to get high.:bigjoint:
:peace:

yea theres a lot of drainage holes, but ill stop waterin it for a few days. thanks for the suggestion!
hmmm... he better not eat it! ill have to watch his ass, wait, shell, whatever. i hope the beaver doesnt chop it down like he did to all the other trees in the area... he better not either!
thanks for the reassurance. i think theyre coming along fine too. i just worry a lot about everything!

went to check the babies today and theyre looking okay. i took 4 pics today cause i was feeling like doin a little more photography. the last 2 are the ones that got hail damage, the second is a nice looking one (forgot to look at the cup again, dont know why i keep doin that!) and the first is a group shot (obviously). thinking about transplantin them into their 6 galloners (like the black one the cups are in right now) in a couple days.
and the turtle wasnt there today, i was gonna take a pic of him to show you all (if anyone out there is watching) but didnt see him. and i havent seen the beaver really, just saw him swimming and heard him do the tail slap thing beavers do when they feel threatened.

let me know what you think. i hope the hail damaged ones dont give up on me, theyre kinda lookin a little sad. :-|

13 days counting germination from beginning? If so, yours are growing much faster than mine! If counting from sprouting or opening cotyledons, mine are either much slower or are about to do a big growth spurt! I'm on day 14 (I think) counting from start of germination and their cotyledons are a little smaller than my pinky's nail and the first pair of leaves just a little bit bigger, and the 2nd pair way smaller than the cotyledons - but mine haven't had the best time so far! Right now they're drooping and browning so all I'm doing is keeping a close eye on them and reading everything I can... hopefully they can recover. Probably doesn't help I've only got one fluro lighting them...

Yours are looking good :D

13 days since i dropped them in the soil actually. but thank you! i hope yours end up doin okay... they dont sound so good but i bet you can bring them back. as you can see mine have not had the best time either right now... they are all torn up! but theyre not brown or dying yet (as far as i know i havent checked them today). if you can id say to give them a little more light and if its nice and warm where you live (i think the bad weather is finally ending for awhile where i live) you could put them outside and bring them in at night. i dont get to bring them in at night but they seem to be doin pretty well out all night. be careful moving them or maybe put them in a window facing the sun!

didnt check the babies (or maybe there todlers now haha) today but it was nice. the forecast said scattered rain all day but i didnt see a single drop! woo hoo! and the extended forecast says its supposed to be 68 or above for the next week and sunny!

im gonna transplant this weekend, then next week give them small amounts of nutes. im just going to use very weak mg for now... im kinda tight with money so im gonna make sure they dont end up dying from stress or some random last freeze and then ill have to get them something nice. thinking fox farm or advanced nutes.

ill have pics for all of ya tomorrow.

day 16 and i think the babies are lookin pretty good. they seem to have grown quite a bit since i last visited them! and its supposed to be nice for the next week, a little rain on thurs. but thats never stopped my babies from doin their thing! i think were gonna transplant them tomorrow so they can start gettin some good roots and hopefully they blow up cause i want some trees!

tell me what you think and if you think theyre ready to be transplant. the pics are taken right before i watered, i dont know if i needed to but the soil seemed pretty dry and i hadnt watered for about 4 days i believe.

any input would be great! when to transplant and nute would be excellent!

Well well look at that they are growing up, looking good.
You'll get those trees yet.
Every one that I put into a bigger pot exploded afterwards, so imo, go for it.
Good luck

thanks! i hope they do! they definitely look better than a few days ago! i hope so... we should be able to replant them tomorrow so hopefully we can do that, then the good weather starts  ill keep you all posted.

stopped by tonight to check on them. theyre looking pretty good. i wasnt able to transplant today and wouldnt like to tomorrow cause i saw a security guy kinda by my car when i came out of the forest. he was just walkin around i think but i get really nervous. i will try to do it within a few days. theyre still growin strong and finally have more than just 4 leaves each! sorry about the pic quality... it was at night and we were trying to use my growin partners phone for lighting so theyre not too great. let me know what you think anyway!

checked on the babies again today. i transplanted them, whoa that was scary! but i managed to keep them pretty much together and not destroy them too much. the roots were all tangled up at the bottom of the cups but i tried to untangle them a little and then stick them in the big pots.

i then gave them all about a quart of water. is that what i should give them or more? i really have no idea so i need just some estimate till i get the hang of the bigger pots. any estimate would be good! thanks!

the pics are from before transplanting and i didnt take any after. ill take them next time i go. let me know what you think!

Looking good, they're starting to shape up nicely.
When you water any plants that are in pots, don't water until they are dry (it may take 2-4 days in between waterings), Then water thouroughly (until water comes out the drainage holes). Oh yeah, don't pour it all in at once, wait for it to soak in then pour on more.
My outside plants that are in the ground get a gallon every other day unless it rains.
Keep up the good work.:peace:

thanks bigguy, that helps a lot! i had no idea how much to give them but ill definitely do that. i used to only water them like once every 4 or 5 days in the cups and they seemed okay, but its been really humid here. i only gave them about a quart each today. when i go back on thursday or friday i believe ill give them some good water.

think i should add a little plant food yet? i only have miracle grow cause i want to make sure they all live and i dont get any unsuspected visitors before i buy my fox farm nutes. i have some stuff high in N, good for root and veg. growth. think i should give them a really light dose and see what they do?

note* I will not be using MG food throughout the grow, only in the beginning. i would prefer not to smoke and ammonium nitrate or whatever is in that MG.:spew:

Glad to help. They don't need any nutes until they are at least 3 weeks old (I think that means 3 weeks above the soil. Are they that old already?). If you are using the all purpose mg, 1/4 strength max when you start them on the nutes (gotta break em in slowly).
Happy Growing:mrgreen:

Yes good advice. :)
They look really cute.

thanks for the comments guys... just when i was about to give up cause i thought no one was watching (except big guy:mrgreen:)

lacy im glad you think theyre cute  i think they are too!

yeah ill be using all purpose MG, i have some that makes the soil a little acidic, but i dont want to use that cause i dont know how acidic its talkin about. the box doesnt say anything except for "acid loving plants" so i dont want to fry the babies with some acid. they were put in the soil 3 weeks ago today, so i think next time i go (tomorrow or thursday) i will give them a very small dose of MG and see how they like it.

these are some more pics from yesterday, i forgot i had them to put up. sorry about the size and quality, theyre from my buddies phone so theyre kinda bad pics.

bigguy im going to take your watering advice too. i will give them each a gallon with 1/4 MG and then i am going to try putting some grass clippings from my yard and rocks on top of the soil to try to help with evaporation. its kinda a pain to get to my plants, so i would like to try to go only 2x per week if at all possible.

ONE PROBLEM! i am f$%#ing stupid and forgot to transfer the names of the plants from the cups they were in to the buckets. now i dont know whats what and i dont know which ones are feminized. i guess ill have to pay close attention at flowering time. when do plants usually start to show preflowers or sex? i want to watch out cause either of the 2 n.l.s could be male!

went to check em out today and give them a little water. i only could carry 2 gallons so i split that up between the 5 of them. friday i plan on filling up 5 -1 gallon jugs and putting 1/4 strength M.G. in them each, then givin my babies a tall drink of agua! heres pics from today right after i gave them all a little bit of water.

i really wish i would have remembered to keep track of what is what. i cant believe i forgot... well theres no going back now. hopefully ill be able to tell by the leaves or by what they look like when they get older, but i will never be exactly sure. :?

tell me what you think. any suggestions? need to do anything? i know for sure they arent perfect so anything you got would be helpful!

checked my babies again today. they looked pretty good, but kinda dry. i split up 4 gallons between the 5 of them with a small amount of miracle grow and some fish tank stuff thats supposed to get rid of chlorine and other harmful chemicals.
sorry i dont have any pics, but they were a little light green, not the dark green i was hoping for. im not complaining though! what can i do to help them get a little darker? does that just mean more water or what?
ill try to get some more pics up soon, within the next 3 or 4 days hopefully.
