That's not all he said either..... he is a nut.
Not real sure how you get this from what I said, but to answer your question of course I think the dept. should hire blacks. You like to put words in peoples mouths don't ya? Never did I say that I resent black people. I'm simply stating the facts as I see them, based on my experiences. Now if you want to tell me a story about how you've been discriminated against go ahead. I'll tell you what I won't do. I won't try to put words in your mouth or say that you think that stupid cracker shouldn't have gotten hired or what the fuck ever!so are you saying to keep this from happening in the future the department should just not hire any blacks, that way they will save the dept. for any discrim. law suit-
am i also to belive that you think he will when his law suit just because he is black- or will he loose because they have enuff evidence to sorport why they fired him (being outside of race)- you'll be surprized how many times a job has been sued because of fireing someone based on race sex or diablity that had plenty, just cause, to fire that person for other reason unrelated to race or sex. and as soon as the matter is brought to court the boss comes right in and when the judge ask what happened he makes some race or sex related comment - the point of my story is to say you can sue anyone in the world , but to win your lawsuit you need proof - now my question to you is do you think the black guy that was fired has any poof for race discrim.
( i dont even know this guy or you , but if he was the only black guy there, and by the way you speck on here, i'm willing to bet you hes been discrimnated on - discrimnation starts with perjudgeing and you do a lot of that on here. when you first saw him the first thing you said was heres another (ni...) black guy taking a job form a white man - and anything he has done sence then has been intencafide do to his skin color as if white dont do the same thing
im in chicago and work with nothing but irish man nuff said (irish man)
I didn't choose to leave the fire service. I was injured in the line of duty and am medically retired from firefighting. To answer your question about being a paramedic, yes I was one (My certification has since lapsed). If it were up to me I'd still be doing it. No other job I can think of where you get paid to smash shit and save lives. Children idolize you and women adore you. What more could a guy want?Check the first 6 pages, I was posting in that thread before it got reborn. I did miss your post (just saw it now) about being a firefighter on the bottom of page 8 (sometimes I do tend to skip over some posts).
I even defended you when someone said you made up the firefighters that were suing the city, but w/e. I don't think you will ever read my posts without trying to build an argument anyway. It is like when I was a kid and my dad would be yelling at me, I would be thinking of what I wanted to say, and not actually listen to what he was saying.
Luckily I had a great boss, that nailed me on it early on so I learned to curb that, because it is counterproductive. Now I try to always try to understand the P.O.V. of the person before I formulate my argument/decision.
Anyway, I still am of the mind that people that get passed up for jobs (even if your already working for a company as a 'worker' and try to get a 'management' position it is a different job imo) that they were not in contention for (be it because of racial qualifications, or the fact you are not a paramedic (before you fly off the handle I don't really know if you are not, but chances are you would have had a job in a suburb if you did), or high test scores, shouldn't complain about why they didn't get it, and should instead focus on how to become better and get it next time, or find a new career path.
Which you seem to have done, and I think that is great.
yeah i here you guys with this "the work world is unfair" song but dude im black i could tell thousands of unfair treatment stories to the point the mods would just close down the thread- theres a lot the we have to over come as humansHere's a true story: I was a division director in a large agency in a large state. A department head under me had a position for a research analyst. We needed someone stat savvy who do serious econometric modeling and run regressions. But the rules didn't allow us to require a certain degree or education.
If we just posted the job we would have to hire the applicant supposedly most qualified. However we knew that having worked with numbers in accounting could and would be considered by personnel as equal to a masters in statistics. But we were allowed to devise a test. But the test had to be provided to personnel in advance so they could ensure it wasn't culturally biased. Even though it was entirely quantitative with several tasks to be performed on values given.
So in the end we were told an applicant who was clearly unqualified should be hired. Why? Because her test score showed she was equally qualified as the applicant with the real education. Yes she was black and yes he was white and yes the personnel dept was almost all black. So what happens when applicants are equally qualified? The rules sayyou then look at other factors to see if an applicant is demonstrably superior. And right there in writing it says that affirmative action status shall be considered a component of demonstrable superiority.
It gets worse. This woman couldn't possibly have done the work on the test and we knew it. We asked for an explanation and were not surprised when we learned that we had changed the values on the test we actually gave the applicants from the one that was given to personnel. Nothing else changed, just the values. And the test paper of the woman in question - had the right answers for the test given to personnel not the test she was given. Did this expose personnel in a fraud? No, it showed that we had violated process and she was hired. She never could do the job and never could be removed. It happens every day all over the country.
Heck yes, I'm old enough to have seen plenty of discrimination against blacks. I feely admit that if I were black I'd be a political firebrand about it. But none of that makes any of it a better path to a better future. So we agree on something.yeah i here you guys with this "the work world is unfair" song but dude im black i could tell thousands of unfair treatment stories to the point the mods would just close down the thread- theres a lot the we have to over come as humans
yes i know and belive that whites have been over looked for jobs and those same jobs have been just givin to blacks (any black at that, as if they dont even try to find the qualafide blacks for the possition, this is done to further frustrate blacks and whites it keeps us seperate, i turely hate when the token black guy is some clown, placed there only for some cheap laugh who's idea are never used)
(now be man enuff to where my shoes)
whats starting to happen to whites has always happened to blacks, not that this makes it ok ,but less then 50 years ago it would not have been strange to look in to a police or fire station and see nothing but white faces, if it was that long ago. and it still happens there are plenty of all white work places the 1 or 2 blacks you see working in places if not for them there would be none ( like you would care) and before them there was none - most jobs post pics of the workers in groups like schools do right outside the mangers office, acording to the pictures at my job the first and only other black guy then me was hired back in the 60s before him there are no others after him there is me everyone else is white this year we have a coulple more blacks coming in and just like you all the whites are bent out of shape because of it- even with the new blacks the company will still be 95% white- but you dont care about the 95% thats white you are only hurt by the 5% blacks - WOW - and your no racist
See, this is the problem. You assume too much (you know what happens when you do that). You have no idea how I or anybody else feels. Is there still racism? Of course. Is it better than it was 20 years ago? Of course. I personally am happy to see more blacks getting jobs that you used to not see blacks doing. My beef is with the double standard. I could assume that you hate white people and are happy to see more qualified whites being passed over for promotions or being hired altogether. I could assume that you are happy to see whites paying for all of the injustice black people have faced for the past 400 or so years. I could assume, but I won't. Something my mother used to say all the time when I had a fight with a sibling "Two wrongs don't make a right." It's true. No amount of affirmative action is going to undo the wrongs of the past. All we can do is try to move forward and make things better. If this back and forth shit between blacks and whites doesn't stop then neither will the injustices and the racism. Think about that for a minute before responding.yeah i here you guys with this "the work world is unfair" song but dude im black i could tell thousands of unfair treatment stories to the point the mods would just close down the thread- theres a lot the we have to over come as humans

you're correct.....two wrongs don't make a right!! affirmative action is not going to undo the wrongs of the past. but are you suggesting that we all just say "damn that racist shit that was going down for the past 400 or so years was wrong and we shouldn't do it any more"? does the playing field not have to be leveled first?See, this is the problem. Why would that surprise you? I've said things similar many times.-WOW- blown away
i am extreamly shocked to here YOU say that
i might even have to question if thats really you or is someone useing your account
This gets to the heart of the matter - what is a level playing field? True equality would mean race is not a factor at all. The other way of looking at it is that past wrongs have to be redressed, in other words - reparations. I frankly find race-based preferences more acceptable when I think of them as reparations. But the back door way it is being done, I fear, will cause more harm that repair in the long run.you're correct.....two wrongs don't make a right!! affirmative action is not going to undo the wrongs of the past. but are you suggesting that we all just say "damn that racist shit that was going down for the past 400 or so years was wrong and we shouldn't do it any more"? does the playing field not have to be leveled first?
funny thing to me is that the folks who say "two wrongs don't make a right" also preach "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth"!
sr, you have to understand for the most part its not black that have a race problem - i would say most blacks i know (and beleive me i know a hell of a lot of blacks) would want to move and look forward and leave the past in the past. but when my oldest child (5years old) comes home form school crying and asking me whats a swa sticker and why did a boy she liked draw it on her folder, now i have to teach my child what that is and why he put it on her folder and not anyone elses (she is 1 of 3 blacks in her class of 28 now i have to teach her about her history (when i asked the school about this they said it was a prank and even laugh at it) -See, this is the problem. see you have to understand there are no hate crimes against whites -NONE
theres never been white draged behind a truck to there death driven by black men
theres never been white hung from a tree by black men
castrated and penis stuffed in mouth
do you even realize the orgin of the word picnic (pick a nigger)
how many white have been burned alive for being white
if blacks realy held a grudge about the past (every thing listed above has happened within the past 10 years) there would be nothing to stop us for revenge, it would look like iraq over here, kaos in the streets -trust-
tell me what you would do if your son or brother was found hung from a tree with his cock in his mouth
so dont tell me black wont let go of the past
it whites that wont let go of hate
i garantee you that if whites stop hateing,,, blacks would stop remimbering
when im hanging out with my friends for a moment i forget that they are white (of 3, 1 is actually mexican) until i here someone say something hatefull 10 times out of 10 its a white person
How would you know how many Blacks commit hate crimes against Whites?sr, you have to understand for the most part its not black that have a race problem - i would say most blacks i know (and beleive me i know a hell of a lot of blacks) would want to move and look forward and leave the past in the past. but when my oldest child (5years old) comes home form school crying and asking me whats a swa sticker and why did a boy she liked draw it on her folder, now i have to teach my child what that is and why he put it on her folder and not anyone elses (she is 1 of 3 blacks in her class of 28 now i have to teach her about her history (when i asked the school about this they said it was a prank and even laugh at it) -

That pretty much sums it up.
Excellent point!I've admitted that if I were black I would have a hard time leaving thepast in the past. But we either have to leave it in the past, or become like the jews and the muslims and keep fighting it for another thousand years. Reminds me of that old poster from the 60s - "What if they gave a war and nobody came?"
Blacks have fought hard and deserve equal treatment in our society. No amount of reparations or money or revenge is ever going to undo the past. Isn't it time we move forward?Ouch ... that data hurt.
Let's just be clear ... MLK would be dead set against affirmative action. He was smart enough to see a buy off when he saw it. MLK wanted a color blind society, not a color sensitive society. he wanted personal action from ppl, all ppl. he wanted an equal chance, not a favored chance. He wanted a hand up, not a hand out.
Let's just be clear, the civil rights movement was co-opted by the likes of Farrakhan and Jackson (whom I've had dinner with as a side note). The corruption started with them, and the ppl were sold out.
can you image how it feels to a white guy to be stabbed in the neck by a black man? lolwhites loves to say
i never owned slaves
why wont blacks let go of the past and move on
theres noway i can get a white person to understand what it means to be black
earlyer we were talking about whites getting passed up for jobs and those jobs given to blacks but can you imagine being passed up based on your name or in my case my real name is a white as they come (first and last) and if you talked to me over the phone ive been told i sound white
do you know how many interveiws iv been to only after they see me they tell me im not what they were looking for- or as soon as i walk in they say "OH you'er john smith" then its the boss is in a meeting right now- or you walk in and tell them your here for the interview and they say we're not hireing then when you remind them that you had en interveiw they look puzzled
The last think they want to do is leave it in the past - they derive far too much benefit from white guilt.I've admitted that if I were black I would have a hard time leaving thepast in the past. But we either have to leave it in the past, or become like the jews and the muslims and keep fighting it for another thousand years.
