I have x2 1000 watt lights
The hoods I have been using are fairly small im sure.

My question is what larger 6in hood do you guys like or use.

You didn’t say what kind of light but if you mean single ended hid with mogul base I have had excellent results with sun system blockbusters.

Air cooled glass sealed 6” with a direct down array and the one of the highest par delivering 4x4 footprints.

Made for 1000w. I am happy with 600’s I use in it. About 3.5’x3.5’ square area with 600.

Mine are as you described but only 19in x 24

I just wasn't sure what the point of diminishing returns was, but if your happy with those they are perfect size for me.
Thank you

If you want deep penetration the blockbusters rated best for the money but if you like short plants. Sea of green. Tables. Scrog. Etc I would look into an xxl Hood. One designed to spread out the footprint. Sun system makes a couple of those.

Different shaped reflectors for different methods and areas.

I originally bought the blockbuster for a 4x4 tent.

I added the second one when I rebuilt the spare bedroom but for a 7’ x 3.5-4’ area.

When I bought these they were stationary and I wasn't scrogging.

Now I have everything dialed in pretty well but these are the week link
In my footprint.

Checked out the xxl.
They arent free but I think in the long run its a no brainer.
Maybe Ill turn those old hoods into small veg lights and ditch the t5.

I now need to go fist fight my wife
About this matter

I was originally looking at the blazer for the tent. It would have fit better really. Lol
I screwed up and got the low rider.
Found out later the standard mh bulb
Don't fit so ended up running a full spectrum in that one.
Live and learn.
Edit I guess it was called full nova bulb. Pretty happy with it in veg

The one I got from hydrocrunch is pretty good, I'd say it's a step up from the cheapest like Apollo, ipower, yield labs etc but not as good as the mainstream expensive ones, so a good intermediate contender. It's quite cheap as far as good quality goes like 260 for the whole shabang XXL hood mh and hps timer ropes etc I was on a budget but I think they might have double ended as well which I believe blows single bulbs out of the water, but yeah just my $.02.

Im keeping my eye out for used hoods.
Most things I would get new but I think hoods are fine.
I dont know offhand and don't feel like looking it up but check out hydrocrunch on like amazon, they prob got used options and I would imagine the whole set for 260 just the hood would be a pretty decent price. Man the package was like 3 and a half feet tall and 50(+) pounds. Was like a backwards turtle carrying that shit in lol.

Pretty weird, just went to amazon and searched hydrocrunch, they have a few items but no hid hoods.

Yeah for whatever reason they got a decent spread of items even in mainstream stores like home depot just various hydro related stuff like fans ducting etc yet very little feedback on the items, honestly I took a bet on them with the few good reviews and good looking product. If you can't find it just by hydrocrunch or hydro crunch look up hid grow light hydro crunch

(Edit, it's hydro crunch 2 words that was all)

Well I finally got them place,

It was a bastard because they are huge and I also had to upgrade the ventilation from 6 to 8.

Next problem is they were attached to light movers which also encorporated
A robostick. Allows me to reorient the light and fine tune the balance once it is all in place. (major pain in the ass)

Next problem is this was all done in a confined space working over an in process 5x8 scrog.

But, its all good now and I have a few extra hoods that I can either swap back out if I stop scrogging.

Pretty sure im just going to use them
To upgrade my veg situation.

Growing and upgrading are a true addiction, you find that out when you grow in a med and rec state.

You cant give weed away here and still im upgrading.

Anyway thanks for the info and Ill try to remember to report back on the overall
Improvement or lack thereof.

Cool they fit.

If you want to move weed in a crowded market you have to have better quality and equal or close prices.

I use the same most of the same gear as I started with. I have grown hundreds of plants the same way. Quality keeps going up.

None of the crap discussed here has much to do with plant potential. That comes from healthy veg and flowering and the patience to keep them going until they are truly done. That’s where the real potency and complexity comes from in my opinion.
