Edmonton is a nice place to be from.....
To be from...lol

Ahhh... was born and raised here. Moved away a couple times, but came back... so it cant be that bad... lol

The biggest problem with Edm is just that it is so far away from everywhere else. Although...that does have its blessings too...lol

i just remembered when it closed and you paid an "all you can drink" fee. i felt bad for the waitresses. they couldn't get drinks to some folks because the people who were close to the bar just took the drinks off their trays.

People's was my favourite... it was close to me, but it also seemed to be a better sounding room for some reason. Saw I Mother Earth play there just before it closed...

Did you ever see a Heart tribute band there called "Barracuda"?
That was a buddy of mine's band. One night the original guitar player for Heart stopped in to see them (he was in town for a wedding) and got on stage for 3 songs. That was a wild night...

yes i did. good band...is this them? http://www.barracudahearttribute.com/ they are active today. Donna started it a few years ago.
there were a bunch of really good tribute bands then too. i remember a Rush tribute and the singer/keyboard player sounded great!
i wish Nick Danger did a Meat Loaf tribute. Ted did such a great Meat. he sings for Doug and the Slugs these days

No...

The original Baracuda started in Edmonton with Chris Schroer and his sister and girlfriend back in the 80s.

Another excellent tribute band that came around a lot to all the rooms you mentioned was the Guy Jones band. They did a full on Alice Cooper tribute with costumes and snakes and so on. I used to see them at the Beverly Crest all the time.

I saw Kim Mitchell in Guelph,Ont in the mid-eighties...Patio Lanterns tour if I remember correctly. Maybe 200 people in the hockey arena...smoked a LOT of hash that night....

I think that was when he was still Max Webster, which is one of my all time favourite bands, along with Rush. If i could count all the hash i smoked listening to Webster/Rush albums and live it would be in the pounds....hahahahah

No, he was solo. I lived in Guelph from 83-86...I'm guessing the concert was 85. I was a big Max Webster fan too.
Oh ya... now i recall that was likely his second solo album.

Funny thing... the first time i heard patio lanterns was at a backyard party that had a deck with... patio lanterns. Lol yes... lots of hash was hot-knived that night...
