How am I doing? Photos included.

Started some Big Black Indica feminized seeds on January 11th. The roots popped the seed 24hrs later and i put them in rockwool cubes until the first leaves emerged. Once they got taller than the glass container i had them in as a humididome, i put them in my DWC setup, with 10" pots filled with clay pebbles and the water high enough to make a damp bed of pebbles. These are 7 days from seed.

Two days later.
IMAG0007.jpgIMAG0008.jpgIMAG0009.jpg
The one in the middle already grew a root to the bottom of the pot. The last photo i noticed the growth is "retarded" looking.

Three Days later:
IMAG0013.jpgIMAG0014.jpgIMAG0015.jpg
The on in the middle ( root in nutrient solution) has grown quickly. Using Pure Essential Black Lable nutrients. Very mild solution at around 300ppm, 180 of it being from my tap water. The "tard" is growing at a steady rate, and has popped a root into the water now. the first plant is growing the slowest.

15 days from seed:

The tard is now the middle photo. Notice how the new grow grew, with 4 leaves?? The slow growing one is the last pic, and hasn't reached the water below. The following day, it finally reached the water. Now all three are growing roots in the water.

18 days from seed:

Week 3 (from seed):
IMAG0038.jpgIMAG0039.jpgIMAG0040.jpgIMAG0041.jpgIMAG0044.jpg

First photo is the fastest growing plant, photo 2 and 4 is the tard, and the last photo is the roots of the fastest growing plant.. It has turned brown. I was thinking that i need to raise the level of clay pebbles above the openings in the pot lid. Kept a fan on the buckets to keep the water temps around 71 degrees. It had gotten up to 76. I am thinking these are the reasons for the brown roots. The tarded plant isnt growing "evenly and uniformly". It's putting out 1 set of leaves on the left, grows a bit, and then grows the right side of the leaves, instead of growing the leave sets in pairs.

Comment with encouragements, comments, criticize me, whatever. all input is appriceated. This is my first grow.

imo they look pretty good there man.:joint: ive had a couple "retarded" females in the past and they had a BUNCH of branches. GL

The brown roots are a thing of the past. I think the light leaking into the water caused it, so i filled the pots up with enough clay pebbles to cover the holes. The growth is insane. Im using Pure Essentials Black Label fertilizers. Any ways, heres updated photo.

4 1/2 weeks from seed:

The retarded plant is the top left. It's starting to sort itself out and growing somewhat normally. The best plant, on the bottom, is branching out nicely. Im wondering if i should top the plant, to let the others catch up. She's about a foot tall now. Plan on switching to 12/12 at the end of the month. This Big Black Indica strain has a 8 week flowering. Should I top it or let it grow?

5 weeks from seed.

Thinking about ordering a 20lb co2 tank. I have a regulator already, i just hope my local hydro shop can refill it for me. 2 more weeks and im switching to 12/12. all plants are showing caliaxs with a hair coming out. Tell me what you guys think... This is my first grow. Usings an air cooled 600watt hps/mh hood, and a haight solid state 180w led light. With these three plants, how likely will i see a pound of finished product? Let me know!!! Thanks guys!

Yeah they really do. This is my first grow, and am amazed at the growth. in just 5 days these things have doubled! going to post more pictures soon! Friday will be 6 weeks in veg, and im considering flowering them then. May let them go a couple days longer. Right now they are about 12 inches tall (the tallest one is). I plan to let them grow to 15" before flowering. If they triple in size during flowering, this would be about 45 inches, which is fine. They are also at about 10 nodes, and are showing its sex with a single calix and double hairs.

Week 6 (from seed) Veg:
Boosted the PPM to 550-600 for the last week of veg. Going monday to get a co2 tank. Switching to 12/12 next weekend!! I also topped (i think) 2 plants, and fimmed one plant.

Co2 enrichment has begun. Luckily i found a supplier less than 3 miles away! Big win! Anyways, im letting temps rise to 85 degress F. I have a 600w mh/hps and a 180w led. The area is about 16 sqft. I hope this is ample enough light to benifit from the co2. Lets hear your experiances and let me know if im doing things right. They grew aprox 1 in in the last 2 days, w/o co2. Im going to monitor the resevior water temps, they have been doing great at 72 degrees. Can i put a iced water botter in with the roots and nute solution????? Is the roots up against the ice bottle bad??? Pics to come friday, and switching to flowering this weekend.

Oh, and the retarded plant is the one i tried to fim. 4 days later, it's evident i didn't cut enough. I just hacked the fan leaves.. This peticular plant has branched out like crazy, it's like it topped itself early in life, so i already have two main stalks. So ill let it be, it should produce 2 colas anywho. :)

Hey Token,

Looking really good, nice and healthy. I love DWC, a little work with the water but the results are amazing. 15" is a good size to flip if you have the room, not sure if she will triple in size, strain dependent really.

How are you controlling the CO2?

Cheers

The strain is supposed to get 100 to 130 cm, so im hoping for them to get that tall. For now i am controlling it manually, going in ever hour or so and turning on the tank for 5-10 mins. Ill eventually get a timer to turn it on and off throughout the day. Not really scientific in the application of co2, i know. I figure they are still getting more c02 than they would get normally. We shall see what the results are! They are at 15 inches today, 3 more days until flowering!

Last Day of Veg. Week 7 from seed.

I added co2 on monday, it is now Friday. Growth has been rapid in the past week. Here are the group shots.

I moved the plants around. The tard (for lack of a better word) (Plant 3) is on the right in the pictures. The plant that rooted the quickest, and grew the quickest is on the left. In the center (Plant 2) is the plant that took forever to start growing. The bushiest of the bunch is the one on the left, the fastest growing plant (Plant 1).

Height Plant 1
IMAG0099.jpgIMAG0096.jpgIMAG0101.jpgIMAG0106.jpg
The roots on this one has to be atleast 3 ft long. It is massive.

Plant 2
IMAG0095.jpgIMAG0098.jpgIMAG0103.jpgIMAG0105.jpg
First pic shows where it was topped. The main stalks are pretty thick! They should be able to handle the weight of massive buds!

Plant 3
IMAG0100.jpgIMAG0102.jpgIMAG0104.jpgIMAG0107.jpg
2nd pic shows how it kind of topped itself early. It grew in a zig-zag pattern at first. That why i called it a tard. 3rd picture shows a stray caliax growing on a stem with hairs growing out. Is this normal?

Going to pick up a HPS bulb today. When the lights turn back on , i will switch the nute solution and induce flowering. Hope i get a good yeild!
