how do the natural gas co2 generators work?

I'm so fucking rusty on chemistry. You burn the gas and you get co2, water, and methane, and some other goodies. But I don't understand what the difference bettwen a generator from a gas stove? Trying to find some good info on this. Anyone have links?

Well flam, interesting question so I did a bit of snoopin around here and it appears to me the main difference is the removal of heat. I'm sure there are other differences probably related to rate of production and efficiencies but thats about all I can see. I got most of this info from this site. Hope it helps and I'll be checking to see the responses on this subject. Thx for asking it.

i use a propane generator but when i was purchasing my co2 system i had a choice to get the natural gas burner but i went with the propane because i didnt want deal with splitting my house line but the natural gas burner benefit is you never have to refill the co2 because its connect to your house line, and i think its the cheapest and most efficient way to use burrners for co2 enrichment

So let me expand on this. I dont see what these gas generators are doing that is any different than any other gas appliance.
Is there not CO as a bi product too when using a CO2 gen? isn't there or what is the risk of CO posion from using this in the grow room?Like on a furnace and water heater that is gas, you have to vent them. What is it that the co2 gen, gas stove, ventless gas fireplaces are doing differently? The bottom line why spend all the money for the fancy gen instead of just ripping apart a regulator and ignitor on a gas stove and rigging that up as a CO2 generator? Or another form of the question, why do furnaces and water heaters get vented?

I haven't done much research on this topic until just a bit tonight. have more pressing issues, but this will be important down the road. What I do know on the gens is this so far:
as the poster stated earlier is that a few of the models can be air cooled
also I learned that CO is only generated or being generated if the flame isn't (blue or white yellow, red, orange)

Thanks for all the responses.

the burners on my generator are much stronger so that the co2 litterally pours out the sides of the generator, also it has to be hung in the air to ensure coverage due to the fact that co2 falls... what your talkin about doing "The bottom line why spend all the money for the fancy gen instead of just ripping apart a regulator and ignitor on a gas stove and rigging that up as a CO2 generator?" thats what i call ghetto... the generator is $400.....much cheaper then rigging up ur own gas burrner and risk gas leaks and burning down your house....

right on my man. I'm just posing questions you know. I guess I'm surprised I haven't seen more of this stuff. But you are right. I think the key thing from what I'm learning is the quality of the burner. A quality burner will insure the proper combustion rate of the gas.

Let me throw this one out there. Could you remote feed the room from a co2 gen in another room? Like vent the co2 out of the generator using a inline fan to bring in the co2?
For those of you who may get a sense of knowing me and for those who really know me know that I'm always up to something. =) This is correct with this thread. What I envision ultimately, is converting the co2 generator into a fireplace in my living room and vent the co2 into the grow room. So I'm trying to learn as much about these things to see if this is doable or not. I'm picturing filling up the generator around the burners with glass stone and such. Then decking out the outside of the gen to make it look like a nice mantle. You know the drill =)
