I'm not an expert in this, and a lot of it is what I have heard from other patients and people that have more experience in this area than I do.oh my! I would be in trouble lol...I have never heard of that Yessica. Does that mean that you have to stick to like 1 strain, or one form of ingestion ie, smoking, eating, capsules?
Basically the same except I have switched to Coconut oil... Because I'm healthy? lol nah. But It substitutes perfectly 1:1 coconut oil to butter.Hello!
I'm curious how others out there make their butter. I have been using the 24-hour crock pot method for about 3 years now. I like it the best, but I have only tried one other way.
- unsalted butter
- shake/ buds ground into the finest bits
- water
After it has been cooking on low for 24 hours, I strain it through cheesecloth and pop it in the fridge. Voila!
I am not sure that I am getting all of the butter out of the yucky cheesecloth remains that resembles squished up dead bugs (even though I know it's just plant matter). If there are any suggestions on how to extract all the buttery bits at the end stage - I'm all ears!!! (or in this case - I'm all EYES).
I'd love to hear how YOU make YOUR butter!
Thank you!
how's taste? Eeep....I would expect kinda a lot like pLAnt and Weed.Basically the same except I have switched to Coconut oil... Because I'm healthy? lol nah. But It substitutes perfectly 1:1 coconut oil to butter.
One more exception. I don't grind any of it. If the pieces are to big I just cut it up with scissors a little bit and I only cook on low overnight. Also, I pour my water oil mixture into a container and pop it in the fridge over night. Then pull the puck out and scrape off the crude on the bottom.
This is after fridge and scrape:

Actually the taste is wonderful. My GF hates the taste of edibles and likes this stuff. I think over cooking and crushing plus grinding will taste more green then anything. I used to mash and trim and grind. Once I switched to a more gentler method we stopped getting so much "green flavor".how's taste? Eeep....I would expect kinda a lot like pLAnt and Weed.
But really good yield. How do you strain?

Also, the coconut oil is actually pleasant. We make chewy chocolate coconut cookies with it usually. I can post my method if you'd like.
This was from a January post. Also, I now only use 1 oz of trim, larf, etc per cup. Especially with the Green Crack. I'll have to find the post after we made this. Basically both of hearts felt like there were going to explode and then my legs shook for about 2 hours uncontrollably. If you follow this recipe please use caution as it may be very strong. Here are the post trim pics. I am pretty busy this week but I am trying to get together the final weight on the Green Crack. I just have to stop moving for 20 mins.
Well it RIU isn't letting me insert pictures but you get the idea.
- The pucks are Cana-Coconut Oil <---Btw this smells amazing.
- The broken branch... That is from the move back a couple of weeks ago. Right before new years.
- The rest is post trim of the Skywalker OG
Here is a quick recipe for how I made the Canna-Coconut Oil:
1. 1 Cup of Coconut Oil
a. Place in crock pot on low and wait for it to liquify
2. I use a 7-11 big gulp cup and fill it about 3/4 of the way full of water.
a. Add the water to the oil
3. Weigh out 2 oz. of trim, larf, whatever
a. place in crock pot and flip to high
4. I try and let the material soak up and rehydrate since I keep it in the freezer. Theory is that you don't want to break down the actual green to much or atleast try not to grind it.
5. Cook for 1 hour on high and then flip to low.
a. After this I left mine overnight on warm.
6. Next day (4 hours later on low). Turn the crock pot off
7. I try to let it cool a bit so that I can use my hand. And so it doesn't melt the big gulp cup
8. Take a sifter screen and mason jar funnel and put both on top of the big gulp cup.
9. Pour the liquid and material onto the screen, carefully...
10. Once everything is out of the crock pot you can start squeezing the plant material.
a. I used my bare hands but I've heard of a french press, tongs, etc. The THC has been dissolved into the oil so we do not want to leave any behind. At least as little as possible.
11. Place Big Gulp in fridge with saran wrap or something over it. (Keep anything extra out of your oil)
12. Usually takes overnight (do not place the mixture into the freezer.
13. Squeeze the side of the big gulp cup and/ or use a butter knife to free you hockey puck from the sides of the cup.
14. Drain
15. Flip your puck over and you will notice a slime, crud stuff. Take the back side of a butter knife and scrap this shit off.
16. Google a recipe and get to baking.
You can replace butter 1:1 with coconut oil.
Ooooh I DIG your process..This was from a January post.
***Also another note*** I do not squeeze the material any more. This releases more "green flavor" then its worth. If the process was done correctly the coconut oil already has the THC dissolved inside it.
I've tried them a couple of times. I really don't like them. At least the glycerin versions. The other option is an Alcohol tincture. I've made it once before with hash, but I didn't do a decarb and the bacardi 151 makes it sting really bad. For someone that doesn't smoke and has zero tolerance I would start with butter or coconut oil and very small doses. I actually really like your idea for pills. I am just not sure what a proper dose would be.@yktind - do you know much about tinctures?
I have never made them, I just want to be really careful when I test the results.
I am gonna have to have you walk me through this one day. Also, do you know how to break it down for measuring? Like I know my butter is almost 19 grams per 1/2 cup. I don't know how to gauge the extracts to bake or make candy with.you wont be disappointed
my avatar is of a QWET extraction fully evaporated
so it bugs me when I see people with green or black tincture
from there I do the hot oil bath decarb (250degrees)
and you can visibly watch the carboxyl group be removed by small fizzy C02 bubbles popping
when all the bubbles have ceased, it is fully decarbed
next step, add everclear, glycerine, or a lower proof alcohol and mix well
Everclear has a much higher absorbtion rate than glycerine so I normally use that
