Their whole line gel, liquid, and block work really well. I have used them all. You can make it your own too but I did a price comparison seemed more than buying ona products. Other cost friendly items are glade plug ins. But down the lines you really want to consider a carbon filter for what you may not smell due to your nose being acclimated to it others can easily.

ona is gel works. if you get the bucket with the fan on top itll cover any smell. from tree to dogshit lol place ona gel bucket in the front door of your house and your whole downstairs will smell of ona. make sure to swish it around every couple days

Is there much of a price difference between ONA bucket wit a fan and a cheap CAF??

Better buying a filter, I used ona at first and that shit adds up, it only works good for a short while before you need to keep adding more and more....I used everything from the blocks, the gel and the liquid mixed with soil moist.

this is the most important part of any grow, dont start until its 100 percent smell proof-You WILL regret not getting a filter.

@Shaz
Probably not.

@OP
From my personal experience, they don't last long.
Personally, I'd recommend that you save up a couple more bucks and get the carbon filter. If you're still in the seedling or veg stage you're not going to need it for at least another month or so. Like Mattemil said, the cost of Ona products will add up.

About how long does the Gel last? A month?

I wonder if it would be enough for 3 flowering plants...
Ona gel will cover the smell in the next room. It's not gonna cover the smell of three mature flowering plants in your grow space. I'd put it in an area where people might get a whiff of your plants so that it's masking the smell of anything coming out of the room, and not the actual room itself. I'd imagine the humidity and temperature of your grow space would play a role in how long it remains potent as well.

There's also always the chance that your strain may not smell that strongly to begin with depending on genetics and/or environment. I've also found that minimal contact with the plants decreases the likelihood of you breaking trichomes and releasing their scent.

Have you looked into DIY carbon filters? You'd still need a fan to use one, but it might be more affordable at this point. I'm sure there's a sticky on this forum somewhere, if not search google for: DIY carbon scrubber. I'd explain, but it's way too late lol.

Priority 1
Lighting

Priority 2
Exhausting and scrubbing

Priority 3
Seeds

These are how most people decide on their setup.

If you are a legal grower, then smell can be your decision to take care of or not.

Can you afford to get busted?

What lighting have you chosen?

Depending upon your lighting choice, this will dictate whether you're going to need a decent fan or not.

For example anything over a 250w hps is going to need a decent inline fan to cool the area. You can't just stick lights inside a box and expect to grow.

This guy has his priorities in order. +rep
I didn't want to be the one to say it, but you effed up buying seeds first. Rookie mistake. Don't sweat it. There's a bright side to all this. You can shoot for hermies and cover your seed supply for a while now that you've already paid for the genetics. They'll come in handy down the line once you've got all your equipment

If you can afford a carbon filter wait until you see the cost of a felony charge!

Fair to say.

Like I said, google:
DIY Carbon Scrubber
or
DIY Carbon Filter

It can be made for cheap at your local Home Depot, Lowe's etc. and any office supply store.

HTG supply is an online store, I bought a 4 inch fan and carbon filter combo for 130.00 dollars, with ducting. I had a few extra bucks to add a speed controller. Best purchase I have made yet. No smell. Put it on a credit card or whatever, it is worth it and will keep you stealth and growing whatever strain you wish. It is good quality and for growing in a 3x3x5 area a 4 inch fan and filter combo is more than enough to scrub air and keep temps where you need them. Don't waste your time with ona gel, it is more expensive in the long haul and doesn't do as great of a job. Peace!

I have an Ozone gen cleaning my air and so far it works great. I think I paid $100 on cheaphydro.com. It can clean 5500 sq feet worth of air space. I plan on flowering four at a time and hope its gonna be enough.

Ozone is very harsh and can be toxic to plants. I have seen that stuff burn a garden...not pretty. Consider using it in the exhaust, what is nice about those is between grows you can seal off your space and the ozone builds up and sanitizes everything.

A filter is essential. You have to trim and dry as well and ona will reduce aroma if used at an effective level. I have a strain that is just obnoxiously stinky....very challenging to remain safely odor-free, ona is great in a pinch, the power goes out, by the doors, whatever. Get both.

Couldn't you mount the ozone generator directly outside of the room to capture any escaping odors? Meanwhile avoiding any negative interactions between the plants and generator?
