i took chantix and quit after 20+ years. it's been just over a year now and i haven't smoked a cigarette. i'm often around them and i still have some here. i have NO desire to touch them. they make my lungs hurt. i found this out after being in the hospital for 5 days last year. i came home and smoked and it hurt. got on chantix shortly after that. i went from well over a pack a day to 0, overnight. never looked back.
Congratulations man.

the first 3 days r the worst comin of cigs.. once that physical need is done its all mental.. also u might gain some weight
I agree, first 3 days is the hardest. Its impossible to get cigarettes off your mind, just gotta have the will power to ignore it.

Did something stressful happen in your life when you started again after 4 years, or did it just sorta happen by accident? My mom once started again after having quit for 17 years.

i can't think of a reason, i just picked them back up. this time i was tired of spending so much money on shit that was making me sick. last time i quit cigarettes they were still under 2 bucks a pack so it wasn't hurting the bank.

I think tobacco is one of the hardest things to quit.....and thats coming from an opiate addict I stoped using opiates several times for years at a time..longest Ive gone without cigs is about 6 months....but it can be done just like any addiction..if you really want to stop I think you should see your doctor or just go cold turkey if you have the will power...sadly I dont

For everyone that says " I was on heroin and it was harder to quit cigs" If the had bags of tar hangin there every time you went to get a soda or pay for gas I think it might be alittle harder. I don't think it's a fair comparison. Just my 2

True...though Ive only done heroin a handfull of times and only have to make one phone call and have 100 Oxy 80s droped off within the hour...for most it would be easier to quit smoking Im sure...but like you said cigs are always there for you

hey i am a little nervous about quitting cigaretts. it sounds retarded, but i just dont want to go through withdrawls and have to miss work. i have been smoking for 2 years.. i am 21. i am nervous about the withdrawls because i have 9 months clean off of oxycontin (about 160mg a day for 2 years). so yeah if anyone has any advice i would really appreciate it. i have tried the gum but its kinda lame. so how hard is cold turkey? and i am thinking of just getting an electronic cig until i can get back into the habit of working out. than maybe i can quit. thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

I just up and quit i didn't get withdrawls (it's just a mind set) don't think about it (cigs) don't buy them completely i've been smoking since 14 and i'm 19 now and have quit 2 times (not starting up from over 3 months and the last time i quit is the serious last time i've smoked i didn't use gum or patchs or anything (my girlfriend still smokes and i don't even think about it) or if this doesn't work get the kind you absolutely hate and it will help you stop you will hate the taste and or smell which helped me last time she had menthol lights and those are the two things i hate about a cig made me want to throw up and i was like this is it

I do have an occasional cigar but that's like one every other month or even longer
