How long can a clone live in rockwool?

Im planning on growing some plants and cutting clones from them for an outdoor grow.
My question is how long can I keep them in rockwool before I plant them? Will they be okay for a month or more after cutting in 1.5 rockwool? Do I need to have bigger rockwool like 3sq x 2.5H?
much appreciated +rep

im pretty sure people use rockwool for all stages in some hydroponic systems. so it just depends on how big of a piece you have until the roots come out the bottom. what medium are you using for flowering?

the little squares are just for rooting. Ones the roots have taken well (about 2 weeks)you need to transplant in your growing medium and they are going to need some ferts to start their vegetation phase.

I have kept clones in 2" cubes for over a month AFTER rooting ...

They get stunted and hungry and the roots require watering often, with a little bit of nutes (after rooting) you can keep her from yellowing to bad...

All in all it is stressful.. but nothing that a little care can't help them survive...

Best of luck...

Isn't it hard to transplant those? I guess in hydroton would be easy but other than that....

You can actually keep them in rockwool and plant them they will grow. Check my avitar that plant was stuck in the ground with rockwool and did fine. So my question would be. Are you going to put them in some kind of soil, or other medium until you transplant into the ground?

Not sure what you mean...

I kept them in the cube until I could plant it in a pot...

The plant survived with the root mass inside the 2"cube... any roots that grew out of it, got air pruned...

What did you mean transplant?:eyesmoke:

I was planning on keeping the clones in rockwool until I transplanted them in soil outdoors. I will be growing in forests and cornfields mixing fertilizers with native soil. Is this not possible?

I just found my old post. I went through with the experiment last year for my outdoor grow.

I was able to keep plants from seed in 1.5" rockwool cubes for 35 days at 12/12 until they showed sex. They were also about 8" tall.
Mind you the roots grew out and tried to attach themselves to other cubes and they needed to be watered every day and need constant airflow otherwise they will start to mold on the tops. I also kept the plastic on the sides the whole time.
