How long till roots form in water cloning

Im trying to clone this bagseed plant that I have that was preety sweet.. how long does it take for roots to show when doing a water in cup clone?
 
also if yore clone is not taking to well, what will be the symptoms showed?? im guessing drooping leafs but is there any other symptoms that would let you know your clone is not gonna make it??
 
I'm pretty sure even with a hydro setup you need the cubes. I don't think you can just put it in water and have roots grow. This is similar to when you give someone a rose cutting and they put it in a vase with water. That rose dies in like 2 weeks and no roots form. Of course roses are different from weeds lol.
 
Well Ive seen this done in an other thread by the enforcer so thats why tryied it.. so if you say it doesnt work than ill take your word for it

Thats what I thought too but people are coming up with new crazy shit all the time. call me old school i guess ha ha.

No im not saying it won't work. I just used the rose as an example. Ofcourse you should try but with every hydroponic grow I've seen rockwool cubes used. Thats all Im trying to say. If youve got the clone but dont have any money at the moment then go ahead and try it. sorry about that.

Yup lol people do new things all the time. When I saw randyrocket put seeds into flowering 12/12 from seedling to the end stage I believe almost anything can be done. I rarely doubt anyone anymore. But my opinion is it wont work.
 
For my clones, the faster ones came in a week and the others came a week later. so 1-2 weeks.
 
So if I used takeroot and started seeing the first roots out the bottom of the clones, should I take the humidity dome off yet??or should I leave it one there for a couple days??
 
cloning in a cup with water is prolly not the best way to do it. there are better ways that are tried and true and one of them may work better for you than another. You can clone aeroponicly, with rockwool, peat, rapidrooters DWC. these ways are all better than simply sticking a clone in water. It could eventually rot. If you get roots leave the dome one till they grow a bit but give them some air every day. take the dome off after a few days of good root growth and transplant it. good luck
 
ok no more bs...........water cloning is a great thing been around since forever........do not use nutes just plain tap water.....make your cuts and drop em in .........takes awhile it is the slowest method bubbles and temp are key 2 weeks is about right
 
I've had root bumps show up in water in 2 and 3 days and some have taken two weeks. This was with out a dome and just in water in off lighting. I'm still practicing my cloneing techniques. I have had about a 85% take ratio between water only and medium(soil/peat moss bags) cloning. With the water I cut at a 45 degree angle at a node, stem scraped and dipped (Same method for soil). With the water method I seem to have less down or droop time when good root nodes are present before planting. With medium(soil) cloning I seem to have a longer droop time or recovery after drooping(root growth). The key to useing water only I believe is to use no more than a half to one inch of TAP water and change it daily.
I like the water only method as the leaves stay healthy and when I put them in the soil cup I know I have the begining of root growth. Still have lost some though going into soil. I need to try a dome and heat pad I believe.:leaf:
 
im trying this with 7 clones, 2 in really moist water and a dome, 5 in a normal cup (no light penetrating to the roots as far as i know) and paper on top with a small hole for the plant. (no humidity dome so they are forced to grow more roots)
im going to change the water every 2 days maybe daily, whatver time i have.
i used my home made rooting gel made of Willow Bark (tried to take the most fresh branches of the tree but they where small trees and cut recently).
hope this is gonna work out, i dont really see what difference it would make with these techniques except for the amount of oxygen the roots get, which i think is the key.
 
wen its lookkiing good in the glass stik it into a rockwool cube,,,or even clay balls,,but id sa either rockwool or coco,,dunno if root riots would do any good with clones

it does take a lot longer tho in water,,mayb 3-4 weeks to get established if all goes well,,,good luck
