Looks great man! I think I settled on the same bags set up also. I only ran 100 grams this first time just to get the feel for the machine. I still have all my 25 micron to micro plane ans dry but I got about 10 grams out of my 30 second to 6 minutes washes and used all frenchies tech with the hose and the flat setting and all. It turned out amazing! Also is there a specific reason that frenchie presses using plastic as opposed to parchment paper? I have been using parchment paper with great results.I seem to think in a French accent while making bubble hash too! Lol! And it really seems to help... Do short washes. The first, after a soak of about a half an hour, should be less than a minute. Then another short wash and just keep increasing the wash time until the return has diminished to the point you decide to stop. And really work the resin heads (with the fan setting on your hose) while they are in the bags, it really helps to make a nicer, cleaner product.
I have used all the bags in an eight bag set but eventually got down to 220 and 190, 160, 45 and the 25(in a bucket in my 30 gallon catch basin). Each bag has its own bucket with the bottom cut off too.
Following Frenchie's advice and techniques will lead to amazing results... Here's a five gram temple ball I made the other day-View attachment 4819790
I believe he uses it for the same reason I find it a valuable tool. You can see through it and really get a good understanding of what's going on, what quality is there and also so you don't accidentally squeeze the material out of the open sides. It also is less likely to tear apart during your pulls.Looks great man! I think I settled on the same bags set up also. I only ran 100 grams this first time just to get the feel for the machine. I use the clear glass bottle but have never had any issues using parchment, but maybe that is because I am still dealing with rather small amounts. I have always wondered if the heating and re heating of the plastic leaches anything into the hash. But I guess at only about 200° there should be a very low risk of that. The same (other than the tearing apart, part) goes for the clear glass bottle.
I keep just a kitchen plate int he freezer for a while and just use that as a cooling plate... well right now in February I do..I don't know how well that would work in say July lolYeah i just use parchment paper for pressing, heck its meant for use in the oven.Just 30 seconds in the freezer to unstick it after pressing.
Yeah there is no risk of that. The bags are for cooking turkeys in the oven. Parchment paper is made to use in the oven as well but is treated with silicone. Either way they are both fine for the temperature range we need in this process. However, there is one thing that I can do with the plastic that would not work as well,, with parchment paper. Both materials will have some oil left behind (at least there's been some I couldn't get to come off) when you're done pressing. With the plastic I can just wash the oil with alcohol and save it. With parchment paper I think it would be more difficult to handle, but that's about it.I use the clear glass bottle but have never had any issues using parchment, but maybe that is because I am still dealing with rather small amounts.
