How low does CFL make your yield

Il be using about 300w of CFL/LED with plenty of reflection, im gonna grow 2 plants 1 blue mystic 1 northern lights. What kind of dried product yield can i expect. also my box will be around 2x2x3 and i plan on doing the spiral LST method with 1 top for 2 branches. Also am i better off growing a couple from seed (This grow is just to be self sufficient not to sell, but still the more the better), or doing a mother clone setup,..... if i can yield enough i would like to be able to grow and then break down the setup so its not going year round...... Any guidance would be great

Your yield should be decent especially because of lst and and topping. If you are not going all year round then a mother clone setup does not really carry too many advantages. When using cfls remember to keep the lights close. As for figuring out how much light you need read purpdaddy's post the following thread:

how big is decent? and im open to a year round grow if it will have benefits that outweight a constant smell, ect. I just dont know which route to go, im open to suggestions

I wouldn't get your expectations because its better to set a low goal and surpass it than set a high goal and not reach it up. Minimum plan for like an oz a plant but if all goes well I don't see why you couldn't be getting like 2 or 3oz a plant, maybe even more.
Going year round has the advantage of using clones. A clone setup allows you to throw your clones straight into flowering and have weed in like half the time it would take to go from seed. Also you will have an established plant so you never have to worry about germinating, a plant sprouting, and avoid other obstacles.
Look up clone setup vs. from seed and you will see a lot of people asking the same question.

im in your same boat, doing CFL and just tied mine down, im hoping to get an ounce at most, I figure with more experience I'll learn how to grow better and increase my yields each grow. good luck with your grow!

Honestly, I would go with the regular set-up of harvesting and not having a mother. Then after you harvest and go it going decide if a mother is something you want to do. You will have time to get 2nd plants going cause you will have a few ounces haha

i got a little over two oz's per plant my first cfl grow with no topping or lst with some random seeds (in signature if you want to check it out)

im hoping to increase my yield this grow by topping and using genetics

you can great GREAT yields from CFL's.... trust me.. ive pulled 3 1/2 ounces dry off a single plant using ONLY CFL's.. i ahve now moved up to an HPS.. adn actually get LESS of a yield than i did wen using CFL's.... but i am able to grow more plants at a time.. but wen growing with CFL's... make sure to surround the plant with the bulbs... adn dont only place the lights above the plant... surrounding the plant will help grow out the side branches... and give light to those spots where the above bulbs would not reach otherwise. also. make sure the bulbs are only about 2 inches away from the leaves of ur plants.. u will have to constantly move ur bulbs every few days.. but once a CFL get about 3 inches away from the plant... it will start losing lumens QUICKLY and become ALOT less efficient. i have a meter that reads lumens.. and have put a CFL right up to it.. and after about 4 inches away from the meter.... the lumens dropped by about 50%. =/

just take a look at this plant.... for any1 who sais you cant grow a decent plant only using CFL's.........

thanks man. trust me man... i had only grew 1 other time b4 that.. adn it was with a bagseed... soo if i pulled that grow off with as much as experience as i had. u should have no problem! =) lol. honestly..... i think ALOT of it had to do with the soil i was using.. Miracle Grow Moisture Control.. i kno alotta people on this site hate on it... but ive always used it.. and ill veg my plants for like 3 or 4 weeks.. and wen theyre done flowering.. the look as big as other peoples plants that vegged for 5-8 weeks... im tellin ya man... MG soil is where its at! lol. i swear by this stuff... its cheap and does an amazing job!

maybe once i get some more room i'll have to get some MGMC for a couple plants, see if I can get the same luck haha.

I think you can get CFL's a lot closer for good bud growth for sure. But weight means nothing as long as you are happy with the outcome at the end!

yeaa u could even get them about an inch away for maximum yield... but you'll be movin them every day or every other day. =/ and ive heard alotta people say that CFL's make teh buds "airy" which is also not true.... alotta ppl place CFL's too far away.. which make the plant stretch... which makes the nodes/budsites further apart.. and so theyre not compacy which makes them only single popcorn buds instead of close spaced inernodes that eventually form 1 big cola... and also all those lil popcorn buds will also be stretching to try and reach the light.. and will cause them to be very loose and airy.

i miss using CFL's to tell you the truth... =/ I still use them for vegging of course.... but i feel like you pay MUCH more attention tyo ur plants when u have to check them EVERY day to make sure the CFL's arent too close and buning ur plant... u get up close and personal with ur plants every day/ every other day.. causing you to notice every little bit of growth thats happened over the past 24 hours.. hahaha

i just hate wen ppl shit all over CFL's adn talk about how bad they are... from sum1's whos grown with them for a while.. adn uses a 400 watt HPS now... i can tell you that CFL's are great. the HPS just makes for less work/maitnence.. now.... if i had 1000 watt hps... maybe my results would be a lil diff.. but CFL's... compared to the 400 watt HPS... not too much of a difference (in growth. as long as u have enough CFL's and place them correctly)

awesome guys thanks for all the great info just built a wire rack with 12 CFLs and a big reflector over them. The rack will use chains and screw hooks to hang and be adjustable..... also using 2 14w led pannels and 4 more CFLs for side lighting.... il get some pics up when the box is done

niiiicee. im sure u already know this.. but ur gonna wanna use 6500K rating CFL's for veg... and the 2700Ks for flowering... u have 16 total bulbs?? id get like 14 6500K bulbs and maybe like 10-12 2700K bulbs.. adn use 14 6500K and 2 2700K bulbs during veg.. and run 8 6500K adn 8 2700K during flowering... ive realized that running a mixed spectrum during flowering seems to help keep everything greener.. and speed up the flowering procees... jsut my opinion tho. lol. good luck man. cant wait 4 pics

if i were you i would mix it up, something like one 150 hps, and other 150w would be covered with clfs! and good ventilation is the key lol, and i am sure u would get much better yield in the end, with that simple mix

its really hard to guess a yield man.... especially only 1 week into flowering... its gonna stretch alot in the 1st 2-3 weeks of flowering. plan on at least 1 ounce per plant. =)
