how many plants with a 600 watter?

this is the exact setup im getting from htgsupply.com
its the complete 600 watt setup. how many plants are reccomended? i will be adding a inline fan with a carbon filter for the outake. is this a good buy for the price of $569.95? anything helps. all opinions are welcome.

1-20 depending on size...

depends on how you want to go about it. if you do a sea-of-green style you can do as many plants as you can cram in there. if you want to do a longer veg i would stick to the htg recc. 6 plants.

Can't really answer that question. Their prices are reasonable, you won't save that much building your own tent. And it won't be as good. I bought their 55" x 96" x 78" tent. I'm afraid my plants may get too tall for the tent. The roof support tubes are so thick you may not be able to find "S" hooks to fit. I used the hooks off a pair of ratcheting tie-downs. Wire ties would work, too. www.bghydro.com and www.growwurks.com sell 600w Lumateks as cheap as htg's off-brand electronic ballasts. I bought about $1500.00 worth from HTG. Had to return a lot of stuff. They're real good about replacing defective stuff and real friendly, but the delays caused real problems with my grow. I had to buy stuff locally due to time constraints, so I ended up with duplicates I didn't need. The lights will get used eventually. If you're close to one of their retail outlets, you'll be fine, if you're doing it through mail-order, you better get everything set-up and tested BEFORE you start your grow. You can find great deals on Craig's list, but it's hit and miss, mostly miss. I've found the local hydro shops to be way too high. They all get their stuff from Hydrofarm, and all want the MSRP. One gives me a 7% discount because I buy a lot of s--t. I try to buy what I can from Lowes or Home Depot or Walmart. The same two outlet digital timers they sell from Hydrofarm for $20.00 are at Harbor Freight for $11.00, lots of stuff is like that. Specialty stores gouge you on the price, mail order and Ebay eat you up with shipping. You'll spend a lot more than you expect. I'll be lucky to make a small profit on my first grow. The second one will be really profitable, as I'll only be buying seeds, soil and nutes. The Airpots you see on Ebay can be bought MUCH cheaper elsewhere. Google "perfectpots". I have 16 plants under two 600 watters if that helps, in a 3x6 flood tray packed solid. Also bought HTG's Motherkeeper complete, Needs a bigger fan. The "heat sealed" liners aren't heat sealed at all, they're sown and will not hold water. All in all, I'd say buy a ready made package if you can get a good price and they're close by. You can build better equipment yourself, once you got some experience and know exactly what you need. Like I may build a grow room with studs and panda so I can have more room to work and a real door and an extra foot of headroom.

I always like to have at least 100W per plant so i would say maybe five would be a good number. It really all matters on what size pot you choose.

i would stick to 6 plants. the setup is nice. its a fairly decent deal, as i spent $200 on my small as tent alone. (should have done more shopping around)

and i love HTG. bought almost everything i own from them.

5 gallon pots will have your plants growing into the lights. I used 3 gallon and I'm afraid mine are going to be in the lights. I had read to expect 1 foot per gallon of pot size, but I think I'm going to get a lot more than that. They're 50 days old from seed and 2 to 2 1/2 foot tall. Only 6 days in 12/12, so I expect them to double in height. Pots are 11" tall, lights use up 24". 78"-35"=43" usable vertical grow room. Once I cull the males, I can spread them out and tie them down. I topped them just before going to 12/12. Next time I'll top them sooner and do it twice. And plant fewer plants. And maybe go to 12/12 sooner.

On another note you do need all that is listed in that add, but they robbed you of the journey you should take in designing your garden.
