Ive been lowering temps steady and Im at 70day , 60 nighttime . I’m doing 36 hours darkness before harvest like I always do, but this time I’m thinking about making the whole last dark period 50degrees. Soil is dried out as always before harvest. What do you guys think? I don’t think it could hurt for just 36 hours before harvest right ?
 
I had an auto flower outdoors where day time temps were 55 and night time went to freezing. That was for 2 months. She still finished up just fine. She finished much slower than normal but finished all the same.

Point is you will be fine with what you are talking about.

Now the real question is why are you doing that on purpose?

False color change is silly imo. But customers get tricked by that bs all the time. As for terp production to my knowledge that isn't proven. Basically bro science. But unproven doesn't necessarily mean wrong. So again to each his own.

Is there proof of this in a actual study?

I'm not trying to call you out or say anyone is wrong.

The word believe generally means not factual. No offense. So I'm curious if there is a study proving this.

I cant find anything that tracks the effects of lets say a grow tent that hits 100*f etc...

but some places making claims

do you know of science that proves that indoor grow temps don't effect terpene loss? I know ive seen some conflicting views on this topic and have heard some very convincing proof...

for instance how cold cure rosin was testing out at having less terpene content than oven tec rosin jam. ill have to find that, the fellows did lab testing and everything...

so again im not sure. bc ive never tested my plants, yet I like to take as many steps as I can hehe

Yea I had stated that no proof doesn't mean it's wrong. It was my major disclaimer lol.

As with most things considered bro science there generally is no definitive proof for or against the topic. Sbit like this lives in the grey area of the industry.

Growers experiences have been going on for a long time.

Scientific approach is fairly new to cannabis which leaves alot to still be learned and confirmed.

I dont see an issue for dropping the temps for a day or 2 before harvest. But I guess the question remains why would a day or 2 or even 3 matter when the plant has been building terps for the entire flowering time?

If the reasoning is to preserve terps wouldn't it stand to reason that the 2 weeks before chop would cause a major issue for terps?

Just questions raised in my head.

What I can say is due to my outdoor experience 115 degree weather for 2 weeks fucks up the taste of weed. That much I'm certain.
 
albeit a blog this is the only source I can find that suggests 20-26 C for increased terp production and never under 60F ever but skating on the edges without disrupting root zone temps.

yes there is a lot that has to be waded through out there, lots of shit lol.

and I agree with you, im talking last 4 weeks, so for 2-3 days you wont get much on the aspect of preserving as, like you're thinking, she's out of the heat and lights lol.
