I just did a full rebuild on the transmission for my 04 pilot, replaces the shocks and brakes all the way around, new tires etc and I'm on 230k miles right now. I just live this vehicle I've taken it all around the country and all types of weather and terrain and she's never let me down. I'll have this till it burns Into the ground haha.
Yeah, at 160K I took it to a dealer and told them to do whatever needed doing (like sealed rear diff, etc.) so that I can drive it for another 160K.
Right now there's a mystery noise in the right front that I'm working with a dealer to track down. The dealer and my other mechanic say it's totally sound and safe but none can figure out the weird metallic clunk it's having. The big problem is they stopped production of Elements in 2011 right after they effed up the design with a bad interior/exterior re-do that totally misjudged the fanbase. So if this one does die, I can't buy a 'new' one and I don't love the idea of buying a 11-15 year old used model no matter how clean.
I love it because I can tear out the rear seats in less than 5 minutes and have a flat surface from tail to dash. It fits a LOT more than it looks like it should. Rubberized floor is super rugged too. As someone who also has worked as a musician, I can fit all my gear, plus things like small PA system, a drum kit & lighting rig in the back for local/regional transport without necessarily having to bust out the tour van. It's super stripped down, barely any bells or whistles but that's also much less to go wrong.
