It's funny, 2008 post and still relevant today. But, I believe I've found the best method of watering.
1.) Seedling stage with a syring. 10 ml every other day week 1....week 2, 20ml every other day, widening the circle.
2.) DAY 1 veg, soak pot 3/4 full. Wait until dry
Thereafter, soak pot, wait till fully dry, repeat till flower.
3.) Flowering- This is key....water same way first 14-21 days, THEN, you need a schedule.
Here it is, soak the pot as heavy as you can. Then wait until you see the leaves up top begin to droop. If it's 4 days??? , subtract 1 day, and that's it, every 3 days is your schedule, because the 4th day, they're too dry. Keeps your nutes on schedule, never a dry pot, never too wet when you water again.
If you feed synthetic, you know you're watering 2x per week.
If organic, and maybe you like feeding worm tea, calmag, maybe silica, you know you can provide it every week, and a clean watering once a week.
Last 3 weeks before harvest?
Week 1 push water harder, give em the last boost to fatten up
Week 2 clean water, reduce amount given
Final chop week....once.....then the day before lights out, soak it.
If you soak your pot the lsst day before 48hrs harvest, you can hang dry longer and get rid of any hay, chlorophyll smell. Don't chop and hang an already dried plant. Your buds will dry too fast, but not gas off any of those green smells.
Hanging a dry plant only is about 3-6 days. Drying a wet plant is 7-14 days.....you want a loooong nice hang dry.
That's between rh in the 50s, 60s temp. Lsst day or two rh may drop below 50? That means you've dried your plant.
Trim, jar, no need for humidity packs, it'll be 60rh. Burp 1 hr for 2 weeks, rh will dive mid 50s, perfecto
