[How To]: Butane Honey Hash Oil (Videos and Pictures)

wow after watching that I want to make some... Ive made hash from kief and ISO but this looks fun and the end result is what Im looking for. I am in a bit of a conundrum though! All the marijuana I have right now is pretty dank. Do you folks use quality bud to make BHO? The thing is that I'm going to a cottage this summer and have been saving up some bud the past month so I have a variety. I wanted to bring 28grs originally, and Ive got 21 grams saved so far, 3 different kinds all nice and well grown bud. Ill probably end up with another 1/4 of dank bud, so should I just save it and smoke or maybe try and get some lower quality and make BHO with that.. :neutral:
 
yamban, I would say that the decision is up to you, depending on what you want. You can most definitely use high quality buds to make errl, but just keep in mind that off of an ounce of buds you won't get more than a few grams of errl, course those few grams can last you quite a while! Personally, I would only use about a half of what you have....you'll get at least a gram or two of errl, and then still have buds to put it on top of! Either way, sounds like you are going to have a good summer at your cottage!
By the way, do you have a vapo or an oil dome to smoke the errl out of?
 
No sadly I don't have a vapo or oil dome. A few grams doesn't sound too bad if it's good quality, but I like the idea of doing half. Ill probably end up taking like 2gs out of each 1/4 so it'll be a nice mix of 4 strains... I still need to get the tube together but once I do Ill get some pictures of the final product.. I may even whip it into a wax! But yes we plan on having a good week... everyones brings at least an ounce so it'll be something to remember.. or maybe not!

Here are a couple of pictures of some "Gold Nuggets" we harvested during the week. This was about 2 x 1 ounce tubes full of high quality trim of various harvested plants from our perpetual garden. Came out to just 4 grams with using 2 cans of tane.

Thats the hybrid pheno Tangerine Dream thats finishing up within the next few days... you should see the SATIVA pheno! It's go like 2x as much resin.. it's difficult to make out the calyxes because they are FROSTED over 8) :lol:

The sativa pheno in the back of my tent will go to like 85+ days I swear. I just flushed it today on day 73 pistils still turning and calyxes continue to get frostier
 
wow both of those posts above are mouth watering... good work. Im getting so excited to make this BHO honey... will probably do it in a week or two!

One more question though... have you guys ever added straight kief to your honey to make it more workable instead of whipping? I know you won't get the budder but it seems like a good idea to me, even if it turns into a paste. I googled it and came up with jelly hash but most people say that is iceolater/bubble mixed with BHO. I might just do this too :)
 
I never add kief to it, may try it one time. Yesterday i did a spray of 6.5 grams of some nice kush, and i ended up with 1.9 grams of budder, or whipped bho, shoulda took a picture but i smoked half of it already, what the most you\ve ever gotten? Maybe onetime when im bored ill upload a video on how I get such a high yield, the oil is still golden

I dunno... I don't pay particular attention.. He wasn't a huge presence in the first place, just a valuable source of information if you could get ahold of him or find him...

Just did a run of a whole ChemD/Bubba plant (minus the big fan leaves), and had to share the results with ya! We started with just over 46 grams of material and ran two cans of vector, and ended up with over 9 grams! FINALLY got the mythical 20% return we have always heard so much about! lol
We had been breaking up the buds/trim pretty well before, but only by hand. This time we decided to give it a few spins in the blender first and whala! We should have tried this before; we certainly have seen people recommend it before, but didn't think it would make much of a difference.....well, I guess we were wrong! YAY!

Not sure how many of you are still around, but im going to ask anyways. Has anyone tried or thought about doing the vacuum purge with the vacuum chamber sitting in hot(160-170) water. I was thinking that if you kept it warm while purgeing it may help speed up the process, and keep the 'glass consistency'. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What I do is keep the mason jar I'm using stuck in my toaster over. To do this I have to keep the door proped open and I have to keep uping the temp guague to keep the heating element on... but it is the best way I've found to purge the stuff. It's cold where I live and the bho doesn't stay soft enough to purge long enough to build up negative pressure.

I know it's not in water but I hope that helps a little. I think the water Idea would be great, as long as you could keep the vacuum container from getting too hot.

@budlover13 That sucks bro. I tried some of my oil that I didn't purge, just to see the difference, and EWWWWW. About a minute after I exhaled I could still taste a sorta coating of my mouth with the tane. Nasty sheit. Hope you aren't ruined on BHO. I just hit mine out of an oil rig for the first time and I have to say... I can definitely see why some people only smoke BHO and have given up smoking weed. It's seriously fucking great. BHO from an oil rig is the SHIT!!!!

@kodank moment PM some so cal peeps my friend. There are so many of us down here and almost all of us have some bomb homegrown in the cupboard. I think I've hung with 6 riu'ers in the southland and all were great folks.
