relatives and friends within minutes from my house, have told me that the fire department is doing random safety seaches... i have seen them today on my moms street and both my parents and my neighbours (friends) have told me they have been in there homes... how can i refuse to let them in when they pop in randomly and get them to schedual a givin time??? any1??? one of these friends this has happend to,( a grower themselves) has a brother thats a cop and he says its legal for them to do this... so how can i go about this with out lookin like i got sumthin to hide... if they go in my basement theres no way they wont notice it so i need to know when they r comin so i can move shit and clean up... the friend this happened to said that there was kids sleeping at the time(caregiver) but i cant use that excuse if my kid is home when they come cuz she'll say" no there isnt"... any other ideas??? thnx!!!

Well it appears your in Cnada and here in the US this doesnt happen and if they tried you could just say no thanks and close the door as here it would be illegal for them to force a check unless your a renter then you have 1 inspection a year
me either but they may keep comin bak... plus its ez for me not to answer and hide... i saw them and did it cuz i thought they was comin but my kid will be a problem in hiding or keepin quiet
yup.. im in canada and i own the home... i was thinkin bout waitin till my harvest is done(4 weeks) and then calling them sayin i was talkin to my parents about getting smoke alarms and they had mentioned the fire departments was comin round and handin them out but i was missed.. then start my flowering agn after they r done the inspection... but what if they beat me to the punch??? anything i can do???

This sounds like bullshit to me... If the laws up there allow them to do this then the laws are fucked. So basically they can pop up any time they want and say we want to do a safety search of your home or property and you are not allowed to refuse? what a crock of shit.

you can say no i dont have the time right now or just dont answer, it happen to a friend of mine and was having gust come over for lunch and the fire people showed up and he told them i dont have time right now im busy they gave him a time that they will be back. and this is in canada
awesome thnx... do u know for sure that they gave him a time... the friend(caregiver) said they jus randomly showed up agn a few day later but they knew they were comin soon so they did what they had 2... i have lived in this house 9 yrs and my parents have lived in theres for 13 and this is the first for us... they went to my parents a mnth ago or so but they were bak on there street today i guess gettin the 1's they missed... i hate the neighbors on my street so i dont wanna ask them if they have been by yet

if they show up just tell them they have to come another time, there not the cops they cant just bust in and even if cops show up they cant come in unless they have a court warrant

this may sound strange but im a paranoid kind of person when it comes to letting someone in my house growing or not.. 1st thing I would do is call the fire department and make sure its not some scam.
get into your house > see what you got > come back 2 months later > rob your ass blind....it does happen don't think for a min it don't..
if its really the FD doing some kind of inspection, I would set a time for them at my convenience for them to come and do it and just move everything on the day before and set back up after..

Maybe its because I live in America but if it were me I'd tell them it's my house and they can stop wasting time standing on my front porch because they sure as fuck were not getting in my house. Or tell them your a germ freak and theres no way they are getting in. (In a polite tone) Eitherway just keep the door locked behind you.

I'm with you. I would in no way allow this to happen. What gives them the right to walk into your house and inspect the place. Is there some law that allows this? No way would I allow this to happen. No way. Tell them to fuck off.

well just for fuel cost I would not send a the big red fire truck to do a inspection if I was a fire marshal. I would send my inspectors out in 1 of the FD cars/trucks.
and have them park and walk when there going house to house.
Im from the deep southern US. and 20 years ago or so a friend of mine had a car that looked just like a cop car so he got the bright idea because we lived in a "dry" county (where you cant buy alchol) and you can't have more then 2 cases of beer at a time (its consitered bootleging)
he got a blue light and sat up from the store thats at the county line and would stop people thats just stocked up for partys. tell them they could not have that much beer and would conficate it...he did it for 6 months or so untill he tryed it on a real cop off duty and got a year in jail for inpersonation of a police officer...
