Hps vs led years later

So im just wondering how yalls switch went im still happy with my hps i know alot of people switched over to leds just wondering if yall are happy please post pics of your led finished buds id like to see how tight and pretty they are

I am curious about the bud quality, LED vs HID. I currently run HPS and MH -- works great, even though I'm pushing more watts than I normally would -- just for the heat! (1,400 total).
During warm months I only run 600w HPS + lizard lights. No problem pulling a pound of dry flower out of a 5X5.
Could get bigger yields if I tried a little harder... :eyesmoke:

I no led saves money and cooler grow rooms but is it worth paying 5 times the amount for a light

Personally, I don't want to be on the "bleeding edge" -- too expensive.
I recently bought a 600w Lumatek digital ballast on CraigsList for $50. Practically brand new & works like a charm.
If you're buying all new gear, then LED is worth a look. But if you don't mind running used hardware, there are some serious bargains out there. The best time to buy is right after Christmas. People dump their old gear crazy cheap.

All stick with my hid untill they break and still proably buy more hps

I think if you go with a led you have to buy a very good one. But they are around $5000 each over here. So I just went with 6 gavitas and master controller at $820 each light. I never use a ac to just fans

Ouch! That's a lot of paper.
I paid $70 total for my last rig. $50 Lumatek ballast (600w) + $20 for a light & reflector. (CraigsList)
LED is getting cheaper overall. I recently upgraded a bunch of old incandescent bulbs in the house. 65 watt bulbs now only draw 12 watts, but best of all, the cost has gone from $24 to $5. The same thing will happen with COBs -- that's when I'll upgrade to 100% LED.

I just got some cobs from Johnson grow lights. I like how the plants look. They are strong; I usually run 1k digital ballasts. This is the test run on the cobs; and it burned my plants at a farther distance than my 1k usually sits. I'm hoping this thing produces. It was not cheap like everyone says but after shopping I can say the price is fair or on the lower side for the quality of the light. Split the cost by the 5 year warranty minus the savings in electricity and it's still not cheap. But if it yieldslike it is supposed to then I think it's worth it. I will know in about 7 more weeks.:weed:

Yes lots of paper but with great resalts. I have only had 2 grows with them. First one was a bit of a rush job and pulled 11.2. After a bit of fine turning the next grow went 13.7 lbs that's with 6 plants

I think the yields on LED has improved rapidly but the costs are still prohibitive. From the calculations I've seen you don't really start to see the savings till the end of the second year.

5 years warrantied for my Johnson grow lights I believe. It's "projected" to work for around 10+ years without much degradation in spectrum emitted to my knowledge. I don't veg with them; only for a few days before I flip them to flowa. I don't see an advantage to using them for veg; other than you will not need to hang a different light for flower vs using t5 for veg and led for flower to extend the lights life span.

I've gotten 1.5 grams per watt with my setup. I bet you will like the results from the Johnsons rig. How far are you keeping the light from the canopy?
