I may have cut my plant down too soon!

90% of the pistols were amber but the trich's, maybe 2 percent had turned amber. I waited for days checking, but no change. I cut her down and I'm hoping it wasn't too soon! What a waste of time that would be! I've managed to take them from seed til harvest. But the harvesting part is new for me. The buds have grown fine. I know that there is a week or so when the THC is at it's peak. Thats the stressful part for me, to know when to cut it. How much of a difference in the THC during that week period? Anyone with the experience of cutting too soon? I didn't understand why she was 90% amber but the trich's were not changing.

Just dry it out and smoke it. Thats the real way to tell. Even if you did cut down a week early, its not like the bud is completely ruined. It will still smoke good, unless you cut her down like 3 weeks early then you might have a problem. If it looked done then its done. I have used this for the last 2 harvest, I also had trouble noticing the change. I think its because you are in there checking like twice a day (know I was) and cant notice the small changes in color. Maybe waiting a day or 2 would make it easier to see changes. Too late now huh?... oh well it should be fine.

Your bud should be fine - it just won't have as much of a couchlock to it. In the future, remember you don't look at just one part of the picture to harvest, you look at the whole thing. Pistils, trichs, age of strain - all together, make up the picture that tells you when to cut.

You are gonna be fine =)

From own exp. and videos i watch u can wait for all amber if u wanna go devil eyes medication.

The typical thing the "pros" are saying is all milky white "shroom" trichs u get a more up high and with more amber trichs u get a heavier but more down stone so if u had some amber showing u are probably close to right on time, its posible u could have waited a litle longer ofc, noone will know before u smoke it yourself and only then u can tell if that high fits you. One thing is for sure tho. IT WILL GET U BAKED ^^...if u want it to be a bit more heavy u are one experience richer for next harvest.

Good luck with the drying and curing mate! happy smoking.

Thanks for the info. I tend to like the more upity head high than the body couch lock high. I've got a few more that will be ready in several weeks though. I'll let them go longer after pistols change color. But usually how long after most pistols turn amber does it take for the trich's to start changing color? Can it be weeks?

it kinda depends on the strain and so on, some strains i had went pistol amber quite short after developing early stage buds. The best way to rly know when the time is right is to buy a cheap handheld microscope, they go for under 20$, if u are lucky u can find them allot cheaper then that even.

Chop of a part that looks mature (bud that is) and look at it both with and without the microscope and u will see what u need to know.

here's a pic for ya:

there is allot of pics with weeks atached to them, dont listen to week..If the seedshop say they got a flowering period between 10-12 weeks for example u should have them under close supervision starting from 10 weeks into flowering until u get the trich color u want.

Dont be afraid to take sample from every plant, even from diferent parts of the same plant.

If u dont have a current stash u can allways just do like me and speed dry them in the owen for 4-5 hours, or just let them dry naturally for a few days in a dark drawer and there u go...a litle taste of what u are going to get =)

This pic i got here is probably the most potent stage of up high trichs, could be a bit more milky tho:

if u'd harvest this within 3 days up to a week it would probable be what u are looking for.
