I'm roughly 87 days into veg from seed and I've done nothing but stress about this girl.
Reaching 27 inches from the top of the bucket lid, Khaleesi (unknown bagseed), has put on more weight than expected.
I have been dealing with some bugs for quite some time, which has been a major set back on flowering. I believe this to be partly due to how my area was designed, simply due to the fact that my tent is exposed to the supporting foundation of the house in the basement (because she's in the basement, lol). Just take a look for yourself.. the entire thing is kind of "rigged".
To fix this issue, I have been applying a mixture of water and pyrethrin, which has been killing off a lot of the lower vegetation. The last time I applied the spray mixture (2 days ago) the plant got so heavy that the flower pot fell into the bucket through the lid. The hole was cut a lot smaller than the pot originally, but I guess over time she packed on a little extra weight (the cardboard shim fix can be seen in the first image in the post). I am not sure if there are mites because I do not have a jewelers loupe or anything of the sort, however I have seen a great deal of fungus gnats and have watched them crawl in and out of the hydroton.
I wanted to flower her a lot sooner, but with a limited grow area I had to craft another area for my veg room for the clones I have taken off this girl. Wanting to get these babies out of the basement, coupled along with having a small apartment, which contains a girlfriend that rules over the house with an iron fist.. this area was "crafted" into my small closet (girlfriend clearly gets the large walk-in closet).
I have the fan on low and angled into the container to bring in some fresh air (also running a box fan in the window on high bringing tons of fresh air in 5 feet away), along with 2x 23w 6500k cfl bulbs providing some light. Is that enough light for these or should I get a couple more bulbs? I'm actually flowering the clone I used to sex the plant at the moment in this room, because I haven't started flowering the big lady yet in the basement. I take it out after 12 hours and put it in a dark area with some air flow and replace back in the bin at midnight when the lights go out.
Questions:
Is it possible to effective repot my DWC plant into a lid that was designed for these kind of things? I don't see how considering the size of her roots.
Do I have enough lighting in my temporary makeshift veg room?
How do I know when I have got rid of all the bugs before I flower? It seems like new bugs always come back.. should I just try flowering it anyways? I am depending on this bud, but I know it's going to take a lot longer to be mature and ready than what I have.
How can I make any of my setup better and more efficient without spending hardly anything?
