Tomorrow I'm going to buy a cheap (relatively) carbon filter and fan as Im on a very tight budget. Here's the link to the one on EBay at the bottom.
that I found that looks like the best one for that price (I don't want to buy a single fan so I though Id better
get the inline one)
So here's what I need help with - Has anyone reading this got experience buying a fan and filter cheap like these ones?? Are they worth going for? Will it work right without breaking down? and what is the smell reduction like? Does it take it away completely??
I really just want to make sure I;m not wasting my cash tomorrow.........Oh and by the way,the cupboard Im growing in is about the size of 2 phone booths put together. Thanks 4 any help.I REALLY need it lol.

idk man, that fan looks like it's made out of some sort of pvc, plus you've gotta wire the fan yourself if you didn't read that part.. if you're not good with electronics, i'd not mess around trying to wire it personally..
it just looks kinda janky imo.. i'm sure you could find a much better quality for not much more cash..
my $.02

I'm with racerboy on this one. If you haven't already got an exhaust fan, you'll be running into trouble with heat and humidity at some point in the grow, so my investment priorities would be to acquire a fan that will last--probably cost you around 70 bucks for a really good, over-powered (like 450+cfm) fan. Tjernlund is the brand I've been using and am extremely happy with its performance.
Then, start thinking about your carbon filter. I think we can tend make a lot more out of this odor issue than is warranted. Now, that said, safety first is always my mantra. All I'm saying is, odor doesn't generally become a major issue until late flowering. And it is impacted by the genetics your growing, the method of growing, and the environment in which you're growing.
So, only after acquiring a fan, and then allowing the bank account to recover, would i start to worry about a carbon filter. Also, it seems to me that ebay has plenty of the "ipower" combo packages for around the same price as the set-up you posted. Why not just spring for one of those if the odor problem is already upon you, and then, if it isn't quite up to snuff, modify as needed?
just my two pennies, though.
Be easy, and best of luck,
Dr.J

I too, believe it to be "janky".

I bet it'd run for a year and do a decent job. But, I'd look at something newer.

THanks for all your thoughts.Im gonna leave it for now then and get a alf decent one in a couple of weeks.I just hope the smell stays down until then.My 2 NLights Autos are getting a bit heavy on the nose.Thats why I was getting so impatient to buy something to lessen the whiff a bit.

ona gel type odor absorbers are often a much cheaper stop-gap measure if you're looking to just hide some smell for a smaller grow. if you don't want to drop the 45 pounds on that setup, for half that you can have enough ona gel to cover any scent! i know some people prefer non brand name ona gel, but i can't remember what the generic equivalent is right now.
be easy,

Check out the DIY section (sub-forum of the General MJ Growing forum); there are lots of DIY carbon filters, including one that I made and posted a DIY on there.

I think you're in some crazy European country or whatever........ but, order some Citrus Magic and either A) order a bunch and leave them in places you don't want to smell like bud or B) buy less and make DIY carbon scrubbers using buckets/pots and circle-fans and Citrus Magic. Shit is awesome bruh
