You do realize were comparing major global conflicts of multiple countries to the death toll of America's third largest city right? And Chicago is holding its own. A fairer comparison would be us total murders vs your data

Either way my point was: war is not as necessary as you think, war is bad because it leads to any amount of death. Of course, it is silly comparing multiple global conflicts to one city, there are worse situations world wide then in just one city.

I left Chicago in the early 1970's. Lived right next to Douglas park till I was 15, then we moved to 55th and Halsted.

That timeframe makes more sense now. All those areas are ghetto now. At first we had white flight but now Shit got so bad we have black flight from traditionally black neighborhoods. Murder is up and the murder rates are sky high for areas like Englewood and Roseland.

As has already been pointed out, everything from the stimulus bill to regular appropriations has spent billions of dollars on Amtrak, and Amtrak still failed to install the speed-control system that was supposed to be completed this year — a system that the NTSB and others believe would have prevented this accident. So, the “investments” in safety systems have produced no safety system. Where does Amtrak spend its money? Almost every dime of ticket revenue is spent on personnel — salaries, benefits, bonuses, etc.
