well homeboy i'm not gonna argue with you... I have grown many strains and topped many a plant and no matter what you say I have seen and experienced it first hand. So i honestly don't care what you think or say.
 
and those are 5 weeks from flipping my lights.. But I can see your the arguing type and I have absolutely NOTHING to prove to you
 
You must have read the title of my thread wrong cause I don't see where It's about a debate. Now if you don't have any imput on the questions I've asked then go harass someone elses thread
 
I simply said it is impossible to be 200% factual with your info, you cannot be certain that it would work Great for Every Strain. <3
Simply wanted to point that out so newbs do not think that they will be getting increased yield by chopping up the plant in mid-bloom with a 200% guarantee.:roll:
 
the affect of topping in flowering hugely depends on when it is done. We can all agree that depending on the strain, there is a stretch phase at the beginning of flowering. During this time it is partly in veg mode and partly in flower mode. Hormones are changing and plant is switching over. To get this increased bud growth from topping in flowering, I wait until the stretch of the plant is mostly over but not entirely. If you do it too early, the reaction will be more on the veg side of things and the next few axillary buds will stretch up as previously mentioned. If done too late, the plant will be too far into flower mode and it wont cause the axillary buds to grow in length enough to make a big difference. When done at correct time (this window ISNT UNIVERSAL, depends on strain. sativas stretch for much longer than indicas and this changes the time you want to do the topping) you can get essentially a double topped cola on each top and this is a beautiful thing my friends :D

Every strain I have ever grown has weighed more after topping, but I see where your coming from... OK i will reword it, every strain I have ever topped has weighed more then not being topped..
 
Like I said, I have topped too early and fucked them up.. In fact I just fucked up some ww's cause I topped them too early, but on some other ones it is working great
 
key to this is grow the strain an flower without doing it. take good notes on how long the stretch lasts and then the next time you will be spot on for that strain an top at the correct time :)
 
I'm just hoping it works well with the mk ultra... working on lsd too but she is only beginning to flower so gonna wait a while to clip her
 
Should take pix along the way & make an in depth guide. I will be doing this to two recon og & two superman og tomorrow morning. they are in the middle of the 3rd week of bloom under two 600w. I will cut 1 inch of each main cola correct?
 
So technically I do not think this would be considered "topping" if you are cutting an inch of the top cola off.. Topping is cutting the top providing two main colas.

you are just saying to clip a chunk out of the uppermost bud?
 
here's the science behind topping.. when you cut off the main growth meristem, it redistributes the growth auxins to other parts of the plant, thus making the plant think that the new topped areas of the plant are now the main growth meristem, or atypical meristem if you will, and it will now concentrate the auxins, or growth hormones to the new tops, making them the new atypical meristems..
same thing holds true for lst and or supercropping.. once the atypical meristem is no longer higher than the rest of the plant, the plant forces the auxins into other branches, which makes for more main growth meristems, instead of the typical one that you usually get in untouched marijuana plants..
 
Myles plant does look awesome with that two headed monster bud! I am two weeks into 12/12 right now and might give this a try. I would love an example of when to cut. How dense is the bud at the cutting time?

check out uncle bens thread, topping technique for two or four main colas, it is probably a sticky thread on here and easy to find and a good read..
