So when the auxins are released does the plant stop feeding until healed ?

About the photosynthesizing- of course it still is or the plant would not be able to produce the energy and sugars it needs to be living not a dead lump. If you are just cutting budding tips and not large branches off then I would assume it would need just as much nutrients if not more to regenerate or shoot out more again. Who knows which nutrients specifically it would benefit from- maybe N, but then again it could be just the flowering P and K still.
