Please show me where prop 19 says an 18-20 yr old caught with cannabis does jail time. While you're at it show me where prop 19 takes away the right of an 18-20 medical patients rights to grow or posses cannabis.yeah and it definitely could not too..
18-21yrs old is the largest demographic of weed smokers, do you really think we need more youth in jail for marijuana related offenses?
right now an 18-21yr old has a pretty easygoing time in california as a stoner\patient\grower; 100$ ticket for posession, no jail, and if possessing a medical card nothing to worry about at all.
prop19 will target that demographic.
this bill is absolutely not an end to prohibition, it would earmark the beginning of more prohibited times.
i dont understand how people can argue that "it would be better than what the laws are now" and "ending prohibtion"
wake up folks
Truth is prop 19 says none of those things. It only says it's illegal to knowingly sell/give cannabis to an 18-20 year old. Even if you were to somehow get caught selling to an 18 year old the burden is on law enforcement to prove that you knew in advance that person was under 21.
If you don't believe me here is the text on the subject directly from prop 19.
The fact still remains, prop 19 can potentially lead to full legalization. It's the best chance we've ever had to end prohibition. To throw that chance away because you don't like a few minor details is insanity. There is no guarantee we will get this chance again.Every person 21 years of age or over who knowingly furnishes, administers, or gives, or offers to furnish, administer or give, any marijuana to a person aged 18 years or older, but younger than 21 years of age, shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for a period of up to six months and be fined up to $1,000 for each offense.
If you think prohibition is a good policy that's fine, I just disagree with that.
